When the lead guitarist and vocalist of Cebu-based Squirrel Talk decided to quit early this year, drummer Mark Austin Ladanan, bassist Guile Canencia, and rhythm guitarist Jayson Ang were determined to continue the legacy of
Squirrel Talk by creating original music. In pursuit of this dream, the trio hooked up with two new members: Tessa Manto as the vocalist and Roy Tutor as the lead guitarist. It was in February of 2005 that
Hastang was officially born -- a new, stronger group that arose from the ashes of the now defunct Squirrel Talk.
Tessa is a goldmine of unique talent that
Hastang is proud to have unearthed. Though a neophyte in the band scene, Tessa had, on occasion, performed in a few gigs with Mark and Guile prior to joining Hastang. Roy, on the other hand, is a veteran in the music scene—having done impressive guitar work for Positive Aura, The Remedies, and Stage Crew.
With uncanny deftness, the band combines an aggressive sonic style with lyrical sublimity (courtesy of master lyricist and frequent collaborator Julie Ann Redoble) in their songs—no doubt fueled by the diverse musical influences of each of the members. But the goal remains the same—to create music that resonates with blatant honesty, raw emotion, and unconstrained passion.
Currently,
Hastang is compiling original material for their debut album, which will be released later this year.

As for me...
Hastang band is another Cebuano rocking band that would dominate the airwaves not only with their great music but also with their superb lyrical content of their songs!
With their song
Random that is currently on the top 10 of 92.3 Killer Bee's Countdown, I am sure this band has a brighter way ahead. Guys I'm proud of you man!
