Starbucks coffee isn't really that good. I'd rather have hot choco. =)

Why confine the argument to Starbucks?
Everything you see around you in malls and other shopping places, are all cunningly designed and created to purposefully bleed you of your hard earned money, even if you don't want to part with it. This is the society and culture we've developed in the framework of a capitalist system, so whether we like it or not, this will be the way it is--you will work your ass off, and we'll take your money from you because we'll device ways so that you'll be so very happy to give it to us, because you'd feel that what you've purchased is the "ONE THING" that will truly make you very happy in your short sorry life.
I know this all too well--part of my job is to develop strategies to help you give me your money willingly and happily

mura man gud ug 'status symbol' and SB gud.. if someone sees you in such place, more or less they think na may 'kaya' ka..specially SB has a wifi which leads to some speculation that you own a laptop.. remember the chocolate brand in the US which is called 'Filipino'? because it's white in the inside and brown outside..
Based on the above observations, let's try to gather facts.
Fact 1: SB is a status symbol
Fact 2: if you're inside SB, may "kaya" ka
Fact 3: if you have a laptop, may "kaya" ka
Ergo...if you like to be seen as "may kaya", all you have to do is...
1) borrow a laptop (kahit na Compaq Armada pa ito na circa 1996 hik hik hik)
2) dress like "may kaya" people (kahit na fake yung Plaid shorts mo at fake Havaianas, di naman halata hik hik hik)
3) go to Starbucks
Which leads to another "ergo"...
Perhaps over 80% of the people therefore, that you see inside Starbucks, aren't really "may kaya" but just fulfilled the requirements/steps I mentioned in 1,2 and 3, in their attempt to feel they "belong" to the "may kaya" club.
Right?

starbucks is not just tambayan.
you go to starbucks in makati, ortigas, and other emerging business districts like libis and the fort and you'll be surprised of the countless business deals that take place in sb. no need to call client's secretary and set an appointment for meeting. "let's have coffee" and that's it.
pero ngano kaha these days di man mawa ang word na "starbucks"
dugay na baya ta na and nanu karon raman na murag juicy kaayo.
@rodsky i agree with you. there's something equated with SB that's why people patronize it.
Ako dli ka-afford ug SB, makasulod rako intawon ana nga place if naa mang-treat nko... Kasagaran sa atoa if unsay IN thing ky it's a must pod to be part of the circle esp. sa mga new breeds
LOSLOS!
i think this article is referring to manila coffee drinkers ra siguro.. not a starbucks fan.. i'd rather go for hot apple pie or brownies w vanilla ice cream on top with a hot decaf sa La Maria mmmmmmmm.. always worth my 200 bucks or less
