With a couple of other people here, I still find this case weird. Yes, daghan mogamit ug tubig. Pero most of the time, sa ila nang balay. Di sad ko mo ingon nga "culture" gyud ni, kay most public toilets in the Philippines, wa man gyud ka support gud ani, unlike in other countries (obviously dili Australia) wherein naa gyud gripo inside the cubicle. For me, sa public toilets nga walay gripo ang cubicle, paggamit na lang pud ug toilet paper oi. Or toilet paper and water... Haskang, why didn't he just tell his foreman that he also uses toilet paper + water para way lalis? Why does he need to sacrifice his job?

Ambot lang jud, mo agree ko if you say mas limpyo ang water. Actually, toilet paper + water + soap para way lalis. Di na lang ta mag survey ug toilet paper or water ba inyong gamit sa inyong balay. Am just curious, nga naa ba gyud ninyo diri sa Philippines magdala ug bottle or kabo sa CR sa inyo workplace for this purpose? Wa sad ko kabantay ka di man ko pareha sa iyang foreman oi. Can't imagine kung unsa "logistics" ninyo if naa sa gawas sa cubicle ang gripo? And also, para nako, murag di gyud na ka-igo nang 1 ordinary-size bottle of water (=1 or 2 glasses?) siguro oi without using toilet paper... Mao pud na akong katingalahan.

Default Pinoy sacked for not adopting Australian Toilet Habit

A senior Philippine government official advised Australians and other foreign employers of Filipinos abroad against hurting or doing an injustice to Filipinos following a report that a Filipino worker in Australia was allegedly sacked for not adjusting to Australian toilet habits.

Speaking to reporters at Malacañang Palace, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita reminded foreign employers of the Golden Rule after being informed about the case of a Filipino in Australia whose employment was recently terminated by an Australian engineering firm.
The Filipino was reportedly sacked from his job for allegedly not adopting the "Australian toilet habit" of using just toilet paper instead of water to clean himself after moving his bowels.

"What is the golden rule? Do not do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you. I'm sure they would not wish the Philippine government or any Filipino to do what has been done to that guy by that Australian," Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita told reporters at a briefing in Malacañang after being informed by a reporter about the case.

Filipino machine operator Amador Bernabe, 43, was reportedly kicked out of his job by the Townsville Engineering Industries (TEI) in Australia for using water, instead of toilet paper, to clean himself during a toilet visit.

A Townsville Bulletin report posted on news.com.au said that according to Bernabe, he was sacked last week after his foreman saw him carry a bottle of water into the company’s comfort room.
The foreman allegedly told Bernabe that it was prohibited to bring water into the toilet. Bernabe said he told the foreman that, "It's my personal hygiene. I didn't break any law. I didn't break any rules of the company."

The Filipino alleged that the foreman threatened to tell management about his toilet habits.

Bernabe said the manager confronted him about the incident and was told to "follow the Australian way" of using the toilet or he will be terminated.

Byron Carter, TEI company manager, confirmed that Bernabe was terminated for his toilet habits because it poses "a serious health risk."

Carter said other company employees had been complaining about Bernabe's unhygienic way of using the toilet. He said the Filipino had also been warned and advised several times before he was sacked from his job.

"Mr. Bernabe's technique to cleanse himself with water after his toiletry visits leaves the toilet cubical splashed with water, suspected to be contaminated with feces and wet soggy toilet paper lying on the floor," the company manager said in the report.

A Townsville Bulletin report online said Australian Manufacturing Worker's Union state organizer Rick Finch said Bernabe was sacked for not adopting the Australian way.

Carter, however, denied Bernabe was sacked. Bernabe allegedly just left and never came back, the report said.

"Mr. Bernabe was given the opportunity to clean up his toiletry habits or he would be terminated. He was told the choice was his," said Carter in the report. "After a heated discussion with the workshop foreman, Mr Bernabe left his place of work without notice and has not been back to work."

Carter said the problem was an ongoing issue, the report said.

Ermita said he will inform the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) about the report and ask the agency to extend some assistance to the sacked Filipino worker.

"I'm sure they have a way of bringing this to the attention [of the Australian government] through proper channels, probably through diplomatic channels," the Malacañang official said.

He said he is sure Australia's ambassador to the Philippines has also been made aware of the incident.

"Le's find out what the DFA , representing the Philippine government, can do to look at the interest of this person," he said.

    bro, good analogy. lol.

i might be mistaken, pero kitang mga pinoy, nya naa ta sa Pilipinas, tagsa raman cguro ta malibang sa public restrooms. ahahahaha...

here are my reason ngano tagsa ra ta mga pinoy malibang sa public restrooms sa pilipinas:

    1. Most public restrooms in our country don't have toilet papers.
    2. If there are toilet papers available, you have to frickin' pay for it (vending machine. )
    3. We are used to clean our asses with water (very obvious).
    4. If we are used to clean our asses with water, then it's certainly awkward to use toilet paper.

so conclusion, dili nalang ta malibang ug public restrooms. agwantahon kung makaya pa.
