LOL...pwede 50 pesos lang akong ipusta?.......
guapo ang three way trade. it will benifit all three teams ....air 21(now burger king) is looking ahead in the future as they aquire draft picks with belga and alonzo. I completely understand since coach yeng will be calling the shots at burger king, he doesnt need superstars, he just wants to have role players in belga and alonzo. Burger king is deep. they still hve multiple spots and duplicate positions. they still have baguio and c. cruz to accomodate. In the purefoods camp, they added a journyman in allado and slamdunk champ canaleta. it give puredfoods the added depth in their lineup. In the ginebra camp, i still dont know when will mark the spark will be back so they added kramer intal and lanete i like what the gins got. they got good quality men especially lanete , who is a promising guard. I guess they added another wide body in kramer. And intal could play mark c. position. i guess we wont be seeing escalona, jr. aquino in the gin roster with the arrival of these players.
if you notice..Air21 isn't keen on next years draft..they wanted the 1st round draft picks of ginebra and purefoods on 2012 and 2013.. and in case you don't remember thats the time that the players from the national team led by toroman will be released from their contract to enter the pros.. mikee romero is a genius..
PBA board approves Air21 name change
01/27/2009 | 10:19 PM
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Board of Governors Tuesday finally gave its go signal for Air21 to change its name to Burger King starting next conference without any amount of transfer fee involved.
PBA board chairman Joaqui Trillo said that everything Air21 presented as documents proving that Burger King is a subsidiary of the Airfreight 2100 holding company met its purpose.
“The documents that Burger King submitted were in order after they were reviewed by our legal department (Atty. Melvin Mendoza)," said Trillo.
“They complied with the requirements and it’s all that we wanted. Burger King is owned by the Lina family, which is why they don’t need to pay a transfer fee. There was no transfer of ownership involved.
Lito Alvarez, team manager of Burger King, was just relieved that the issue is all over.
“We expected this from the very start and we’re happy that the board finally accepted our change in name," he said. “The documents showed proof that the owners of Airfreight 2100 and Burger King are the same holding company, which is Lina Corporate Services."
The Linas have a 60 percent stake in Burger King, with telecommunications tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan, team owner of Talk ‘N Text, allegedly having a 13 percent share.
Now, are Burger King and Talk ‘N Text considered sister teams?
As far as PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios is concerned, they are not. But they will not be allowed to directly trade players with each other.
Barrios said that Alvarez “voluntarily made a representation" that Burger King will never deal in player-swapping or in any kind of sort with the Tropang Texters.
“Mr. Alvarez made a voluntary representation that they will not deal directly with Talk ‘N Text," said Barrios. “It was an offer Air21 made when it formally presented its desire to change its name to Burger King some two weeks back."
Jayjay Helterbrand, Paul Artadi, Chris Pacana, and Chico Lanete, that is a clog up at the 1 spot for Ginebra. But for the Gin Kings, I think the trades are not over yet. Some of these PGs has to go for a big man. I hope Lanete will be traded again to other team and end up playing for San Miguel Beer.
I think the biggest winner of the trades is Air21/Burger King. Looking long term, they already have a good source of young players by acquiring Purefoods and Ginebra's draft picks in 2012 and 2013. Aside from the fact that Yeng Guiao is reunited with his Red Bull stars Cyrus Baguio and Celino Cruz.
Purefoods got a fair deal though. They lost Chico Lanete but got Don Allado and Niņo Canaleta in return. Both of them gives Purefoods more size especially Allado to play alongside Kerby Raymundo and Enrico Villanueva. But Purefoods will still be James Yap and Kerby Raymundo's team.
purefoods got bigger..
