languages evolve one way or another. Just like the philippines has different dialects but they still have core languages as well.

The number of years can be determined by the number of descendant it mentioned.
From the time of Noah to the time of Jesus.
It is usually assumed that time between each descendants take 20 years.
So you can always calculate this time and come up with approximate number of years.

The earth itself existed millions of years already.
