Yes we are obeying the commandments...but we are not worshipping other gods.We are practising or upholding the value of a great family.We do respect our mothers same as respect with Virgin Mary,we respect our younger brothers and sisters same as we respect the Sto Nino.We are not making them as Gods but we are only showing the respect and devotion we have for them which is reflected in the manner we deal with our family...

The bottomline: WORKS are necessary for salvation, which is what the Catholic Church teaches. Whether you include them in your "expanded" notion of faith is irrelevant.

I maintain, works are necessary for true faith and fidelity, likewise faith is what saves and NOT the works per se (Eph. 2: 8 - 10 ) but we have been saved by faith to do our works... What happens if someone answers to the call of sloth and doesn't do what he has been called to do and obey? That someone has a dead faith, as James said.

I am merely trying to emphasize that what Paul wrote and James wrote DON'T contradict each other, rather they complement each other.

You're again engaging in some very creative personal interpetation, twisting scripture to make it say what you want. The scriptures are very clear: works are necessary; faith ALONE saves no one.

NOT necessarily, again it is faith or "faith as belief" first and foremost that brings salvation (Eph. 2: 8 - 9 ) INITIALLY, it is what justifies someone with God even for the one who worketh not. 1 but what you call my "extended notion", yes in the long run that FAITH has to be backed up by DEEDS 2. I don't believe in "easy believism", but I also don't believe in "salvation by works" which is very much what is implied in the teachings of the RCC although they profess salvation by "faith and works" and despite that verse from first John, aren't even assured of that salvation.

Salvation through Faith:

I agree with the no to easy believism, I don't believe in easy "believism"; and that Salvation is gained through Faith. BUt let us not also forget the teachings of John the Baptist- REPENTANCE. After Faith is the act of REPENTANCE!

Good deed is a RESULT of SALVATION and not as a MEANS of being saved. IF it is so, CHRIST DIED FOR NOTHING! IF people CAN SAVE themselves, then THERE"S absolutely no point FOR JESUS CHRIST to come down to earth and save the SINNERS!

SINNERS read it? Romans 3:10..NO one is righteous...YUP no one is righteous enough to save oneself from eternal death! GEt it?

JESUS CHRIST told us in JOhn 14:6

I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE NO ONE COMES INTO MY FATHER'S HOUSE EXCEPT THROUGH ME.

tHUS, JESUS came to save us..and NOT us came here and saving OURSELVES. WE have no authority to save ourselves!!! Get it?

By the way, which faith are you referring to? FAITH in your FAITH? who is the object of your FAITH? Faith in faith? Have a clear obeject of FAITH.

The only way to have CHRIST is to have FAITH in HIm and have HIM in one's life. ACCEPTANCE of HIM is done through FAITH. Take note. FAITH IS NOT WORK!!!

FAITH is a GIFT.

POINT:

IT is by GRACE (the grace of GOD) that we will be saved! Ephesians 2:8-9...

For by grace you have been saved through FAITH and not by your works lest anyone should boast. For we are HIS workmanship...

IF we can be saved by deeds...then there's no point in having GOD as the only WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE.
