This is just a post to see if people would be interested in contributing code to an "iSTORYA" dev team.
Everyone would keep copyright of their code, we are still thinking of how to license the code to other entities in the future, but don't expect to make money from this. You will of course get a nice happy feeling inside.
There are of course some requirements.
* You need to be pretty proficient in PHP. You don't need to be an expert, but you can't be just starting out as well. I and others can't be hand holding you although peer review, discussion, code and suggestions will be given and appreciated.
* Experience with frameworks is a plus, if not, it's one thing you will have to quickly learn as well. If you have any experience with frameworks such as Prado, CakePHP, Codeigniter, etc., say so.
* PHP5 OO programming, functions, classes, etc. a plus.
* MySQL experience is required as everything including aspects of templates will use MySQL.
* Subversion(SVN) experience a plus. If you don't have SVN experience, tools like RapidSVN make it easy. SVN allows multiple developers to manage the project and make code changes that can be propagated to other developers quickly and easily.
* Experience with vBulletin a huge plus.
* Front-end designers welcome as well to design web interfaces. Knowledge in CSS/HTML/XHTML/Javascript/Ajax would be great. Graphics skills in Photoshop or the tool of your choice is great.
* Able to communicate and be active in a dev forum + IM such as Yahoo! is required.
* Linux command-line experience is a plus.
* A local development server which can include local apache/php/mysql installations such as wamp or xammp is required to test your code. You cannot commit changes to SVN if it doesn't work on your end.
* Someone humble enough to work with a team and accept constructive criticism. Constructive criticism moves us all forward. If you cannot handle someone being critical of your work or the sunrise makes you cry, this probably isn't for you.
If you are interested, the best way to make sure I'll remember that you are interested is to e-mail me at
vwenberg@ribbed.us and tell me about yourself and what you can offer. I am not going to get other people involved until I can get the initial skeleton built, but I will cerntainly get a hold of those who appear serious, those who want to learn and those who want to give back to the community.
