Default Left Behind in the Philippines

Talks about the plight of children born from American soldiers and Filipino women.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4436140.stm

Here's a small part of the article:

Unlike the offspring of liaisons with Vietnamese women who were allowed into America as refugees from communism, he says the Filipino children have received hardly any help, despite grinding poverty.

"We fought and lost a court case where the navy argued these children were the product of prostitution, but that's simply not true - most of the women were common-law wives," he said.

Now a generation of lost boys and girls is turning to the internet to track down the fathers who sailed away without leaving a forwarding address.

so so sad to think about... i cant undersand why those soldiers have the heart to turn their backs on their child...

Problem is , do they even know that they have children overseas ? I dont believe that the love child is actually from a COMMONLAW WIFE . INcidents may happen but it does not represent the majority . Mo tuo pa ko na love children are products of Filipina women who are just wishing for the best for a greener pasture ma burikat na or dili .

Though I find the servicemens love childs an irresponsible act because you know how capable or to control when impregnating women . All I can do is pray for the welfare of the children and hope na di na sila madungagan , including sa mga Pinay nato na di lang pod pataka ug bilangkad . Sad but true .... basta Amerkano , mentality sa atong mga Pinay ... DATU ug GWAPO . Tsk tsk tsk

For the girls. It is like an adventure. Swerte swerte lang jud. There are other girls who end up with nice husbands. Others end up with the opposite, and there are also foriegners who got fooled by our girls who end up heart broken. Yeah, it is really sad.
