    Hmmm... Very interesting post.

I have a couple of questions.

    1. When you say "na anad man gud mu sa mga WESTERN SET OF VALUES sa aesthetics... its not really dirty, its just wa mo na anad coz ang na andan nato diri pina WESTERN, puti2 panit, ug Koreano buhok style which is totally not us!!!", isn't Jamaica (home of the Rastafari movement) in the WEST?

    2. When you say "^_^ long live the third world countries! someday we shall crush the skull of every american!!! ^_^ peace comrades!", even if you ended it with a peace comment, isn't this statement very antagonistic towards the rastafarian values of acceptance, open-mindedness, and brotherhood?

    and lastly,

    3. You said, "ako id rather stick with the political implications of wearing locks... its a way of countering the western set of values which is not really good for us Filipinos. getz?", my question is: What is really its political implications And what is the basis for your conclusion that the western set of values is not good for us Filipinos? Where did this come from?

It's great to see that people like you feel very strongly about something, in this case, even about something as simple as how to wear one's hair. You have to back it up with facts that will make us more informed, though. I'll be happy to learn.

    Default rolling the balls

to get the ball rolling i want to introduce dreadlocks to everyone.

    History
The first known examples of dreadlocks date back to ancient dynastic Egypt. Examples of Egyptians wearing locked hairstyles and wigs have appeared on bas-reliefs, statuary and other artifacts.Mummified remains of ancient Egyptians with locks, as well as locked wigs, also have been recovered from archaeological sites.
The Hindu deity Shiva and his followers were described in the scriptures as wearing "jaTaa", meaning "twisted locks of hair", probably derived from the Dravidian word "caTai", which means to twist or to wrap. The Greeks, the Pacific Ocean peoples, the Naga people and several ascetic groups within various major religions have at times worn their hair in locks, including the monks of the Ethiopian Coptic Church, the Nazirites of Juadaism, the Sadhus of Hinduism, and the Dervishes of Islam among others. The very earliest Christians also may have worn this hairstyle. Particularly noteworthy are descriptions of James the Just, first Bishop of Jerusalem, who wore them to his ankles.

    By Culture
There are many reasons among various cultures for wearing locks. Locks can be an expression of deep religious or spiritual convictions, a manifestation of ethnic pride, a political statement, or be simply a fashion preference. In response to the derogatory history of the term dreadlocks, alternative names for the style include locks and African Locks. It is also argued that the accurate term for the process of creating the style is locking rather than dreading.

for more info... you can always google search it. There are a lot of things we can learn from Dreadlocks.

    Default My Locks

I had my locks yesterday... after years of study and patience i finally had my hair done.
It turned out well than I expected. Now all I need to do now is wait and embark on my dreadlock journey, and I want YOU, to come with me. ^_^ and together we can share our experiences and thoughts.

Enough with the mushy stuff! eww!

To those who are interested I can give you a contact to contact JUST PM ME as I'm always online... With reasonable prices, He can Lock your hair, He has been doing this since time immemorial, so you're in safe hands.
I can also do it myself if you like FOR FREE, as I learned from him the technique of locking, although your risking your hair. hahahahah...

To those who wants to share the journey but do no want to practically lock their hair. We can still do it here in this thread just keep posting related topics and issues about dreadlocks.

You can also post your contacts, so that we can also contact them if we want to have dreadlocks.

    Thank you

maam, jamaica might be geographically in the west, but zion is vewy far from west man..
is in ethiopia, and its in africa...ye all who praise Jah should know that...
kanang mag ingun ingun nga rasta tapos ilahang nasugdan/nahibal an kai Jamaica - its just the tip
of the iceberg that is rastafarianism... i dont blame them though, k ilaha manang ideolohiya...

I think people should leave dreads to people who are REAL rastafarians,
and not just to look cool. It's a very cultural, even religious thing for a lot of people
and no one should use it as a fashion statement or to look cool. That's just my humble opinion.
thats too much peter tosh maam.
again mu depende ra na sa tao. if he wants to look cool by having dreads then
iyaha nang buhok.maski mupalit pa siyag buhok sa colon|fuente iyaha mana.
if people mock at him because of that mindset then hes gotta be "cool" enough
    to face it.

people wearing dreads for spiritual practices doesnt only involve rastafarianism alone.
again everything didnt start in jamaica.
