I, on the other hand, want to see the new Gort, and if the new version of TDTESS will depict Gort saying...

"I believe you are mistaken--I'm the master."

The 1951 Stood Still was a superb sci-fi classic. It's really outrageous when they re-make a really good movie. Still, one can still go back to the 1951 if this 2008 remake bombs big time. It's also interesting to know also if they'll stick to the original short story or to the movie. Though it seems they did stick to the 1951 movie because of Jennifer Connelly's character who's absent in the original source.

Some announced stupid remakes that everyone is "waiting for":

Hitchcock's The Birds (2009) - with Naomi Watts. First 1933 King Kong, then 1995 Funny Games, and another in 1998 Ringu (remade as The Ring) now she's doing Tipi Hedron's iconic turn in 1963 The Birds. She's like the go-girl for leading lady remakes! You go girl!

Oldboy (TBA) - with Will Smith directed by Steven Spielberg. I have high respects for Spielberg. Because even though I am not a fan, he made classics like Jaws, Schindler's List, ET, et al. But we've already seen what happens when complex Asian classics are mixed with Hollywood filmmaking -- DISASTER! And Mr. Spielberg taking on psycho thrillers that Chan Wook Park perfected? Uhmm.. I hope this doesn't get made!!!!

Casablanca (TBA) - starring and directed by ta-da: MADONNA! Can't wait for this to... flop!

Rosemary's Baby (2011) - with the awesome LINDSAY LOHAN replacing Mia Farrow in the lead role! Yay! Oh, that's why she went to rehab -- to prepare for the role before she gives birth to Lucifer's baby! hahaha.

And it appalls me gravely to think that there is a Hollywood movie called NINE (2009), which is supposed to be, I don't know, a sequel or a remake to the Fellini classic 8 1/2. The plot seems similar. See my avatar. Get the point. Urgh. I've seen 8 1/2 like five times. I think I'll be seeing it more. hahaha.

We only hope there are a lot more Darren Aronofsky remaking movies like RoboCop (2010) because even if the Paul Verhoeven movie was something, we can still expect huge. But sad to say there are more Michael Bays. hahaha. Klaatu Barada Nicto!

You can't possibly expect them to make a 100% remake--there is no more "cold war" and the bomb shelters are all empty--they changed the threat from nuclear annihilation to "environmental scourge"...how they achieved this, and the manner by which they unsuccessfully or successfully achieve it will be the focus of my attention when watching the remake.

BTW I do own the "1951 ...Still" , it's one of my favorites...and I do have my own "script in my head" for my own "adjusting an idea to fit modern contemporary issues" remake of the film.

These movies will be good for me to watch, I have never seen old movies hehehe. Even if I did, I fall into amnesia even 3 months after watching a movie, when I watch it again, it's like new to me. Lol.
