One of the guys who made "PASIG", (from the now-defunct Culture Crash pinoy anime comic book), a guy named iagailog is a friend of mine at DevArt. Once we were exchanging PM's about this particular matter, and told me that it's simply all about economics--there simply wasn't enough money coming in.

of course they would lose advertisers cuz of thier delays so for short, advertisers lose trust in this guys for being unprofessional in the publishing business, dapat walang late late specially sa mga issue nila

Well, I was kind of hoping for some group close to the Visayas area or more specifically here in Cebu.
Forgive my sense of regionalism but I take pride more in our skills as Cebuano artists.
Here's hoping that we get our act here together soon.

It can't be helped, we should love our own. biased? yes I am. Cebuano artists are the best. And I will defend that to the grave or beyond.

i'm actually thinking of creating a cyberpunk manga, or for the more conservative, a comic book in the spirit of William Gibson's Neuromancer.

I will handle everything, from character creation to funds for publishing.

I will pencil, ink and do the layout of the thing. I will do the writing and the typesetting. I will do the SFX and the cleaning. The only thing someone other than me will do is proofread and print.

I gave up on waiting for others. It will be nothing epic, probably just a one-shot.

The local istorya comic book club is planning something... fun this November 30th, something of a friendly drawing competition/drinking session with other artists. they're kinda worried that we aspiring mangaka don't visit their threads that much, so I'm pointing you in their direction. So you can have more details about what they have in mind.
