my first scuba dive was this year in Maribago and we have 4 female first timers in our group of 8. It's not in Maribago beach resort but somewhere near where different dive businesses thrive. the females are even the first ones to get comfy wearing the gear the first time. they are more excited than the males. we didn't even go deep (like 10-15 feet ra) and we are just so amazed w/ what we saw underwater.

it's a step by step approach from the dive instructor. first, a short lecture, then you have to be comfy wearing the gear off-water. then u submerge waist-deep, then submerge via kamang2x sa mabaw and he teaches you how to breath, use hand signals and use ur flippers properly underwater. after all is OK, then mokamang na mi sa lawm gmay by increments. then we enjoy the scenery!!! AND PLAYED WITH THE FISHES TOO!

the cost was only around PhP 1,500 each for an hour of enjoyment!!!

so i don't believe when it comes to scuba diving, women are more risk averse. it's just that more women think that this hobby is more for the boys. actually, it's not.

MY RECOMMENDATION: Scuba dive before you die and better try Malapascua or Apo Island...u will miss 1/2 of ur life if u don't...and it doesn't even comes close to snorkeling...
