To PS3 owners:

Is the PS3 able to play (pirated) DVD movies? Planning to buy one. and I heard that the PS3 also upscale the movie to 1080P using HDMI cable. thanks

region number is indicated sa PS3

in short murag dili mo play ug pirated, mo pili man gani ug DVD na orig. na regional pa gyud.. samot nag pirated..

yup it can play, pero nay region lock pero nice kau kay upscale niya imu dvd movies mura nag bluray pud, ang ako japan version man it can play us version dvd, pero dili pwede pal..

pero i dont recommend your ps3 to play dvd movies mu ubos ang lifespan sa lens sa ps3

Thanks for the replies. But what about the pirated DVD movies that people usually sell here? (such as the ones sa Traveller's or sa Fuente) would they play sa Ps3? If so, what version did you use? Asian? Japan? US? Hoping to get replies from whoever has actually tried it kay Im plannin to get a PS3 instead of a home theater kay mahal kaayu blu-ray player and upscaler DVD player.

Ako ok ra nako na coz I read from the reviews and lots of people use the PS3 as a media player only for quite some time already (which im planning to do on my HDTV) and had no problems till now

if your planning to buy those pirated DVDs, better copy the movie file convert to MPG or AVI then save it in an external HD, plug the External HD on the PS3, you can save the movie file to your PS3, or play directly from the external HD.

thats how i do mine.. wala nko gi pa play ug DVD akong PS3, maka short sa lifespan sa Lens..

kung sa japan or US imong PS3, pwede na maka play ug Orig. US DVDs..

Im confused. some say that it can actually play pirated DVD movies while some say the PS3 doesnt play them.... Unsa kaha ang tsur ani. Has somebody actually tried doing this? I know this wont destroy the PS3. hehe. Pero I really need your help istoryans.

p.s: I dont think playing DVD movies would shorten the lifespan of your PS3, if you think about it, keeping on watching DVD movies is the same as when you are keeping on playing PS3 games, so you are still basically using the lens during gameplay. hehe

bro dont be confused ive tried it a lot of times it plays pirated dvd movies it even plays burn dvd movies, pero dili lang lage region free ang ps3 like sa ako ang ako ps3 is japan version dili siya ka play ug pal movies pero maka play siya ug R1 nuon i dunno y pal ra dili niya basahun, ako pa nmu bro convert nalang your dvd movies to avi file and save it to your harddisk kay makaguba lage madugay ang lens sa ps3 ug sige nmu play ug movies lens itself is 5k plus na, pero ako bluray raman ako naka save sa ako hardisk panagsa naku mag dvd pero guarantee jud nuon ang dvd movies e upscale jud nuon sa ps3...

bro il explain to you why and dvd movies maka shorten sa lifespan sa imu ps3 lens its because if magplay gud ka ug dvd magsige mangud na ug read ang ps3 maski nagpause pa meaning wala siya pahuway ang lens like sa ps3 games dili man kau magread ang ps3 lens maka rest man kay e upload man niya kabantay kay naa loading basta games dba? mao na siya kakita ba gud ka naay loading ug mag dvd movies so meaning bug2x jud imu lens i hope naka understand ka but its your call raman pd nuon basta di jud advisable sige play ug dvd movies ang ps3

convert nalang to AVI file bro, kay kung sa pirated DVD man gud, ma garas na imong DVD, aw mo untol2 or, mo ungot na ang salida, compare sa movie file, way kurat! maliban lang kung ma delete..

choi kau ang AVI file na movie, e upscale na sa PS3.. labi nag HD daan imong movie file..tsk.. amazing!
