bisan ako dili uyon gamiton moniker 'queen of the south' kay aside almost similar ra sa claim sa Cebu and parang 2nd class ang dating kay it seems like acknowledging the 'king' may turn out to be the imperial, polluted, overcrowded Manila nga by standards of global community needs exra effort to bring back its charms. But mura'g mag insist man gyud authors sina Chip Childers & Steve White nga kana gyud gamiton, igo ra nila gitanggal ang word "city." So 'day yuri, get hysterical at these two foreign authors ok? Didto gamita imong pala-away powers at sabunutan mo sila.
I would rather prefer the title endorsed by jaded global travelers the expats community about Davao, who according to them (not ours) Davao "deserves the title as the CROWN CITY OF THE PHILIPPINES."
Wow, Davao needs not hype thru overexcited journalists or inaccurate 'official' website kay mga foreigners mismo highly endorsed it.
I understand your shocked hysterics. Too good to be true? Hard to accept? You thought siguro imo ray' pinaka maayo but the keen foreign visitors thought otherwise, so your reaction is not surprising. To be frank bisan gani kami nakalitan that's why even some Dabawenyos even take second pause in using the nice moniker kay nakakapanibago. But it's not us originaly endorsing it but the expat community themselves.

Here's an amazed observation by another expat about Davao, pasensya ka na kay very frank title sa iyang thread as some foreigners often do na di plastikan, and it's his very own opinion take note these expats are jaded travelers as he had traveled to many places in the country already:
Expat's comment: The cooler city is Davao!
his post:
Well, I still like Cebu.
BUT, DAMN, I'm in Davao now and this is a damn cool city! It was recently ranked as one of the best cities of southeast asia for living, and now I really believe that.
It's about twice as big as Cebu for one, and Davao is an incredibly safe city. If you take taxis from major hotels, the airport, the casino or wherever, someone writes down the numbers on a slip of paper to report the driver if any problem whatsoever. Every driver gives me my exact change back everytime as well.
They also built a park called 'the People's Park' which is definetely one of the cooler urban city parks I've ever seen in quite awhile. Absolutely amazing at nighttime. All lit up, and you go through a couple guards to get into this city park, which basically eliminates all the riff-raff.
Bars and restaurants are all over the place in Davao, of all kinds of different scales. I don't find the in-your-face *** like Manila or Cebu, but Davao like all cities in the Philippines has that too I'm sure, it's just a relief to see a lot of normality everywhere which predominates everything instead.
Best yet for me, they have a Hold'em Poker tournament everyday at 6pm at the Filipino Casino. Nice!
Tomorrow, I'm gonna check out Samal Island and another island that are a short ferry boat ride away from Davao. If those beaches are kinda cool in any sort of way whatsoever, then Davao might be my regular future destination to always visit for a long time to come.
(NOTE: I visited here for one day once about 3 years ago, and had a real good vibe from it then, but exploring a lot more now, and seeing a lot more, and I'm really impressed!)
no worries davies, no offense., kalas lang kaayo panahon patol anang mga taong way huna-huna, "vhougz on the loose, pasagdan na.,
