it was an issue before due to DDR3 modules having 1.9V
and Intel strictly recommends that memory voltage should be at 1.65V
but now, newer DDR3 ICs are able to operate from DDR3-1066 up to DDR3-1800
on 1.5V to 1.65V depending on timings and module size.
and these memory modules can overclock upto speeds of
DDR3-1866 (9-9-8-20) up to DDR3-2000 (10-9-9-24) on 1.65V~1.75V
so overclocking is fun again for deep-pocket-enthusiasts...hehehe
If you do that to these processors it would only last for a week. Good for screen shots only. So better not OC these procs.
ANyway its too expensive for now. I am an Enthusiast myself I think an ordinary quad core can play all current games. Better invest in VideoCards as games are now more dependent of GPUs.
But for workstations and productivity tools like 3d developers and video editing core i7 is a great option. Well in Photoshop and corel or any Photediting tools Core i7 is an overkill. But it never hurts to waste money for those who have deep pockets.

sir, i don't see the point in coining the statement if your argument, sir, was

and, sir, do you have any proof that these procies wouldn't last more than a week if OC'ed? pardon the insolence, but i'd like to read them, sir. someone as uneducated as me would like to see those for my self.

sir, as you are an enthusiast as you say, sir, you should know for a fact that the Core i7's platform is a HAVEN for enthusiasts, sir.
