Default MTV Philippines Endorses Greenpeace Climate Campaign

MTV Philippines, the country’s favorite music channel, has joined the campaign to stop climate change and switch to clean energy. The campaign is led by Greenpeace, one of the world's most recognized environmental organizations.
MTV Philippines has pledged to support Greenpeace by airing TV spots featuring musicians and celebrities calling for a stop to global warming. The music channel will also be broadcasting the Greenpeace video of the song “Bomb the World” by protest music icon *Michael Franti* and his band *Spearhead*, and *MTV VJs KC Montero, Cindy Kurleto, Marc Abaya, *and *Mariel Rodriguez*, will be wearing the Greenpeace “Star Power for Clean Power” shirt on-screen to signify their support for the campaign.

“MTV is a channel for young dynamic individuals who are not afraid to make things happen,” said MTV Philippines Managing Director *Jack Madrid*, “We're very excited to be involved in a campaign that takes action to protect the environment.”

Greenpeace is pushing for clean energy alternatives to stop climate change, considered the single greatest threat to our planet today. The organization's flagship, the Rainbow Warrior, is on a 5-month Asia Energy Revolution tour which started in Australia. The ship at present is in Hong Kong and will be in the Philippines for three weeks starting October 27. The release of the TV spots on MTV, is part of the preparations for the tour. MTV will be airing the spots during the Philippine leg of the tour.

“We’re very honored to be part of the clean energy campaign,” said MTV VJ Cindy Kurleto, “As part of MTV, we get to reach out to the youth through music. Now, through this campaign, we’re also given the opportunity to do what we can to take part in a movement for positive change.”
