Conflicts among family members in a family run business.

Some examples of how problems are being solved among family members:

    1. THE LOMBARDI FAMILY - which owns a chain of markets, real estate interests, a winery and a trucking company in nothern California - has worked out a system where every week, the five siblings meet to discuss issues that might produce conflict. During these meetings, each sibling is allowed to state his opinion and then the sibling that will be affected by the decision must leave the room and let the rest of group decide the matter. The principle is that each sibling knows that he must be fair in his judgement if he wants his other siblings to also be fair.

    2. Another system devised by two Chilean brothers on the few occasions when they could not agree, was to call on a certain gentleman who was their father's trusted friend to make the decision. The brothers would then abide by the ruling, no matter who was favored by the decision. The principle is that a person respected by all siblings but is not personally involved in the business can assume a quasi-parental role.

    3. Another interesting example is about four brothers who inherited a large meat-packing business. Supposedly the father told them that since they had equal shares, there would be times when the four would not agree. So, in his deathbed, the father told them that he would give them an amulet in the event a decision had to made and a consensus could not be reached. The one who had the amulet would be given the right to make the final decision. However, each time the authority of the amulet was used to settle an issue, the one imposing his will on the others must pass on the amulet to another sibling. His turn to use the amulet again would come only after the three other brothers had used it.

What will you do when this happens to you..?

My colleagues borrowed money (not that much tho Php200 lng each..) from me so that they can join our GA. Out of my goodness, i let them borrowed expecting they'd pay me after our payday unfortunately they didn't. I already reached out to them and said that i needed the money already since my money is also budgetted til the next payday. They just ignored my plea. One said that she is on a tight budget as well. What would i do?

Isa pa, maikog man ko maningil ug balik.. hayss.. faets..!
