Also remember that no woman can feel what the unborn child feels either (and studies shown that children undergoing an abortion most likely do feel excruciating pain). If we are to consider what the woman feels, then we should also consider what the unborn child feels. An unborn child's life is still a human life. Now obviously you cannot consult the unborn child, but since generally all people (and generally all mammals too) opt for self-preservation, then we should presume that it is in the interests of the unborn child to seek life.

To be OBJECTIVE is the way to go. And being objective is the reason why I approved that abortion should be "legalized". Being objective is to think that having 3 bad eggs in a pack does not make you to decide to throw the dozen. Same with abortion, while killing a fetus of violation of basic human rights but, it doesn't mean that we have to neglect the benefits it can offer. So a lawmaker with an objective mind will have to think of a law that would merit the benefits of abortion out of necessity. Legalizing means regulating. Since our country is composed of people that do not necessarily hold-on to the same religious belief, it is important that our laws are based on objective reasons that will address equally the needs of its citizen.

We do not even have to argue with your point about self-preservation and/or equal rights since we are uncomfortably on the same page.

I see two problems with that, and a solution.

The first problem is that abortion is unconstitutional, as per Article II, section 12. And it should be.

The second is that the world "legalize" carries a lot of baggage. So does "regulate".

The solution I see is actually simple. We can avoid all the difficulties with language by sticking to the Constitution, keeping abortion illegal. In those cases, however, where it is permissible to allow the unborn child to die (for example, ectopic pregnancies, where action must be taken to save the mother's life and the child cannot be saved no matter what is done), then we should see this as not actually being an abortion. This distinction is important, since abortion is the direct killing of an unborn child, while in the case noted above, no action is taken against the child, Action is taken to save the mother. The action, unfortunately, as a double effect: allowing the child to die (but which could never have been saved). See the link below for the details; I have really oversimplified it here.

I posted a link earlier which showed the moral analysis of such cases. The discussion there is quite nuanced and I think will be satisfactory to you. It is by no means limited to Catholics since it is NOT really dependent on exclusively Catholic doctrines and moral principles. For consideration.

let the repoductive health bill be passed to mitigate the need for abortion. .or legalize it as well as not to see or find fetus/es in jars that are abandonned in church gates, in the middle of landfills or worst get flushed in toilets bowls. .not all laws need be moral!!
    just an opinion. .

kini si fritzl maypa gi-abort unta sa iyang inahan sa una. BBC NEWS | Europe | Fritzl says he was 'born to rape'
"The Austrian father, Fritzl, who allegedly imprisoned and abused his [own] daughter for 24 years has said he was 'born to rape', according to a leaked report.
Mr Fritzl fathered seven children with his daughter in a cellar he built.
[Psychiatrist Adelheid] Kastner's report has been submitted to the prosecutor's office but was leaked to the Austrian media.
In the report, Mr Fritzl, 73, tells the psychiatrist: 'I was born to rape and I held myself back for a relatively long time.'"

pabor ko... i think women should have a choice.. its their body afterall... besides luoy sad kanang mga babay na biktima sa rape especially kanang mga incestous rape then mamabdos... kung maluoy mo sa ilang magiging baby.. dili di ay mo maluoy sa biktima mismo... usahay naa mamabdos 13 ang edad, 12... a the baby will only be a reminder of their traumatic experience...

its easy for the guys to say ok lets be pro-life... hindi nyo kase katawan yun eh... 9 months yun... na magiging limited khit papaano ang buhay ng isang babae... especially what if hindi kasal yung babae o ayaw nung lalake panagutan. yeah, we can say merise kay nag-awas man ang biga, but then its not our place to judge the person. for all we know ginamitan siya ng emotional blackmail ng lalake...

kato sad mga burikat sa pier... mamabdos human dili ka abort, dili ma ilhan ang mga ama of course... luoy intawn ang mga bata as young as 9 years old nagseservice na ug mga taxi driver... ang mga anak lalaki kay mga addict ug snatcher...

kung ako tung mga bata may pa gi-abort na lang to sila... mind you these kids think that prostitution is ok and not degrading...

legalize abortion.. at least kahit papano may control ang gobeyerno...

    some thoughts to ponder:

Of course abortion isn't right. But it is even less right to bring unwanted children into lifelong suffering and to strip women of their choice. Making abortion illegal is not the way to prevent it. There is a much larger picture that starts with much deeper roots. ~Anonymous

Abolition of a woman's right to abortion, when and if she wants it, amounts to compulsory maternity: a form of rape by the State. ~Edward Abbey
