Increasing tax rate was not a new issue to a certain state........it would become new if it would be abolished.....and theres nothing constant in this world exept for changes......so lets expect that tax rate would change from time to time.......but the constant is......it change in increasing manner.....not lower......

the intention to raise revenues for the government is good.. revenue is the means that makes the government instrumentalities runs smoothly.. technically we all benefit under such an arrangement because, based on the democracy's essence, we are the government.. which apparently doesn't purport to be as such..

if only collection was efficient, the government would have more money without hiking the rates..

Naa bay justice ani karon? Asa naman tong people's court?

The problem is not the oil price hike, GMA, the oppossition/destabilizers alone. It is the system. Let's change the charter. Go federalism.

Brace yourselves. Finance Secretary Gary Teves announced on TV Monday night that the “increase of the VAT rate from 10 to 12 percent is definitely going to happen by Jan. 1, 2006.” Just two months after the first round on Nov. 1, 2005.

That's how heartless the GMA gang is. Sen. Nene Pimentel calls it “sadistic.” Well, if GMA wants to drive people up the wall, that's her lookout. The only way to prevent the further increase of the VAT rate by Jan. 1 is to make sure we have a new President and a new Cabinet before then.

As Fr. Larry Faraon prayed in a prayer-Mass last Monday afternoon at the San Miguel Pro Cathedral beside Malacañang: “Nagawa na ng tao ang lahat ng kaya nila. Diyos na ang kikilos malapit na.” Let's hope and pray Fr. Larry's prophecy will be fulfilled soon.

Another sad admission of Secretary Teves is the fact that 70 percent of the VAT collections will go to paying the government debt.

The unfairness here is the reality that a big portion of that debt is due to the election overspending and corrupt projects of the GMA administration that have not benefited the population at all. And now you want people to pay for it.

We can grant that Gary Teves is a decent guy. Unfortunately, the expenditure of the VAT collections will be done by corrupt members of the Malacañang team.
