the memory for the graphics card is for its own, its got nothing to do with the mobo. in other words, DDR3, DDR4, DDR5 graphics card will work on DDR2 mobos.

no side effects, the only thing that would matter is the port where you would place your vcard. agp works on agp, and pcie on pcie.
