I don't get it. Why are the Hultmans moaning and complaining when their camp clearly signed that notification/waiver to let them know that Teehankee was making a move on clemency. As corrupt as this country is, you'd still be hard pressed to get away with a forgery.

they were not expecting for teehankee to be released this early

also teehankee was a first class prisoner meaning he really was not in "prison" since he had his own quarters with tv and all...

if I were the parent, dili jud ko mo sign sa waiver then I would protest. but is it the really the course of action in an executive clemency, that the clemency should have a waiver to be signed by the hultmans? Why is visconde already in the news and already complaining that H. Webb will be in the list for executive clemency as well?

yes, if they don't want any possible pardon, the Hultmans should not have signed the civil indemnity in the first place.

The two families (Teehankee & HUltmans) entered into a settlement of civil indemnity, stating that upon the payment of the damages, the Hultman family will have no objection to Teehankee’s application for executive clemency.

The agreement was signed by Anders Hultman, Maureen’s father. So they cannot say that they don’t know that Teehankee will be released.

as for Webb, he still has a pending appeal such that a pardon is not yet applicable in his favor.

Pardoning a prisoner is the PRESIDENT's given-power from the constitution. We all know its legal PERO the president should be careful kung kinsa iya e pardon. sa karon its an abuse sa iya given-power. sa kadghan nga mga prisoner nga nangugat nlang sa prisohan nya dili pa kadako ug SALA compare to TEEHANKEE ngano apil pman cya sa lista?
THE FACT THAT GI ILAD ang Hultman family based sa interview nila do u think we can say its LEGAL japun totally? BASED SA ILA records nga ni usab na c TEEHANKEE, ambot lang kinsa ya name pero i dont care kinsa na cya ky di man sad angay na hinumduman, pero pg gawas niya mura ug eskapo daun sa pinas ky wala jud mgpakita. does that shown sincerity sa iya SALA? IN FACT WALA JUD CYA ANGKON NGA NKA SALA CYA SA HULTMAN. HOW CAN WE KNOW NA HE INDEED CHANGED? AND THAT IS ONE LEGAL FACTOR WHY MA PARDON ANG TAO. SO KINSA NAMAN SAD ANG E PARDON? obviously, katong mga RICH PPL NA CRIMINALS ANG PRIO!!!!

i am not for teehankee's pardon but if it was done in due process and was above board, then we cannot do anything about it.

yes, the world is unfair and there might be people who are more eligible for such act but what can we do they have more access to those level of society. unfair, definitely yes! but that's the reality of life.

    A related issue...

Why do you think FVR granted Robin Padilla conditional pardon and parole before he stepped down?

That is the power and privilege granted to the president by this constitution. There might be favoritism but it is the law.

Moreover, do you think Supreme Court justices could say no to the President not unless the President did something really, really below the belt and is not accepted by the majority of the citizenry?

Of course not! Because they are presidential appointees. How could they say no to the very same person who promoted them to a very comfortable and worthwhile position?

That's why in some countries, judges and justices in that capacity are elected instead of appointed.
