Webb still has a pending appeal such that a pardon is not yet applicable in his favor.

and ex-Mayor Sanchez? here's what the SC said last 1993, "There is probably no more notorious person in the country today than Mayor Antonio L. Sanchez of Calauan, Laguna, who stands accused of an unspeakable crime.

...and no president of our country would make that kind of suicide move (pardon Sanchez). not to mention that Sanchez' former Calauan constituents doesn't want him to come back there at all.

and on another note, here's what Melanie Lim of Sun.Star has to say about Teehankee's pardon: "Abomination"

    Sun.Star Cebu - Lim: Abomination

"It is bad enough that we do not execute murderers in this country; we have to pardon them because we believe they have served enough years behind bars. How long is enough anyway? To me, it should be the rest of a murderer’s life because that’s how long a time he’s taken away from his victim’s life—-the rest of her life."

TEEHANKEE PARDON ILL-TIMED; CREATES PERCEPTION THAT JUSTICE SYSTEM FAVORS THE WEALTHY
    http://www.senate.gov.ph/press_relea...angilinan1.asp

Following the release of convicted murderer Claudio Teehankee Jr. after being granted executive clemency, Senate Majority Leader and justice advocate Kiko Pangilinan today warned of possible ramifications of the hasty move.

"The public will only lose more confidence in the justice system because of this executive clemency. It is hard to understand how a life imprisonment of 40 years according to the law was reduced to a mere 14-year term. Is this because he came from a prominent family?" Kiko asked.

Teehankee was sentenced to one count of reclusion perpetua and one count of reclusion temporal, which carry a jail term of 20 to 40 and 12 to 20 years respectively for the murder of Roland John Chapman and Swedish-Filipino Maureen Hultman. He was convicted in 1995.

"Lalo lang pinagtitibay ang paniniwala ng marami sa ating bansa, lalo na ang mahihirap, na ang katarungan ay para lang sa mayaman at may padrino sa gobyerno. This is another blow to the rule of law," Kiko ended.

Mrs. Hultman called it the highest form of injustice. Actually, it's not. Our govt has already served it when they freed a plunderer. Now she freed teehankee? Boy, am I not so surprised.

if u haven't heard of the new statement of Mrs. Hultman, she said the family is slowly accepting the facts and realities of the pardon. She said what they were just objecting was that they weren't notified immediately of Teehankee's release. Unsaon man kno nla pagbasa sa public notice (ug bsan pa 1 whole page pa) sa dyaryo when in fact they are in Sweden...hahaha. murag nausab nasab ilang sabaw dah...

they didn't even recant their previous statement coz what they are saying now is contradicting to the previous. or basin gi amnesia napud cla ug nkalimot sa ilang gisulti before...that showed their true colors...sakto gyud diay c Gonzales in calling them hypocrites.
