Want proof of how sci-fi shaped my life? Right now, my real-ife job/business, the reason why I earn a living, is a very SNOW CRASH story.

@keyser_soze, there's an "Ender's Game" movie coming out, but I honestly don't know how the actors will portray the depth of the characters in the book, murag impossible to do in a 2 hour movie.

Used to be a college instructor. Taught introductory English Lit., Public Speaking, and the Humanities. Now I'm engaged in a job/business that's totally different from all that, yet much closer to science fiction than I originally anticipated.
