The duo of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are way better than Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell and not to mention the number of years they have been playing together. San Antonio's team chemistry is doing wonders for them. Where was Minnesota after they made it to the conference finals? They never made it back to the playoffs ever since. And Sprewell even asked for much cash because "he thinks that Minnesota owes him for what he has done". That's not the type of teammates that Garnett needs to win a title. Look at where Garnett now that he has Paul Pierce and Ray Allen along him. If he only have these kind of teammates before then he should have won more.

That is because of Tim Duncan's leadership ability and maturity that he has allowed Manu and Tony to blossom into the All-Stars that they are today...

Manu and Tony are waaaaaaaaaayyyyy better than Spree and Sam beacuse of Tim Duncan!

Geez....... For the time that they had been playing together, Manu and Tony always ALWAYS gives the credit to Tim Duncan on their success because they know where credit is due...

Even on his rookie season, Tim Duncan showed the polish, maturity and savvy of a wily veteran and the leadership ability that is undeniable...

On his first season as a Spur, he took the helm of leadership from David Robinson because The Admiral know right then and there that this kid is special...

David was already in decline back then... Sean wasn't healthy either yet Duncan drove them to win a title on that lock-out season...

If Minnesota didn't win back then, someone's got to take the blame ayt? If Garnett was so much as a leader like Duncan then he would have earned the respect of Spree to keep his trap shut and greedily begs for another season to play alongside his brilliance the way Finley and Horry does just to have another season to play alongside Duncan!

It spelled the end for the franchise and no one is more to blame aside from Flip Saunders and the management than is their leader, Kevin Garnett...

Ray and Paul had so much in common with Garnett that it was a no brainer to team up and try winning a title together (calling Iverson, Nowitzki and Carter)...

If it weren't for Paul and Ray, KG would be nothing more than a Karl Malone and a Charles Barkley...

Got the brilliance of a Hall-of-Famer but without a title...

Why? Because Basketball is a team sport and not based on individual talent and no one knows better than Tim Duncan the Greatest Power Forward of all time...

Many might prefer Garnett because of his passionate and exciting play but no one can deny the accomplishments of Tim Duncan's boring game...^^

AFAIK, the Spurs were a LOTTERY TEAM before Duncan came, that's why they got him in the first place. So Duncan being lucky that he went to an already-solid team? Quite the opposite actually: he MADE that team solid since the day he first stepped foot in the NBA!

A very good company to be with in keeping himself, his teammates, and the whole team in check, unlike Kevin Garnett under Kevin McHale who had other agendas in mind.

Manu might be a star in International play but he is unknown entity in the NBA and a gamble when the Spurs drafted him and it was a surprise that he became that good quickly under Duncan and Pop that is why he was pick 57th overall! Why the hell was he picked that long? It is because no one would gamble on him other than the Spurs whatever his International accolades are that is why he is considered as one of the biggest DRAFT STEALS of all-time! It was on 2002 that he rejoined the Spurs and he had not suited up for the Spurs until that time... Same year Dirk and Peja was picked to play in the All-Star game including the 1st pick that season, Yao Ming who was one of the few players including Tim Duncan who was chosen to play in the All-Star game on their rookie season!

Much like how a delightful surprise Scola is to the Rockets...

Duncan is blessed with his innate and undeniable talent that few players including Garnett or Bryant lack which is that of the maturity and leadership that he has and not because of Pop and Holt for chrissake...


If you swap Garneet for Duncan then the Wolves would have gotten that title a long time ago because established stars would be willing to accept a lower salary just to play alongside Duncan unlike Garnett who might seem to be really interesting to others because of his charisma...

Can you imagine Duncan on his 2nd season when he won that title againts the Knicks

The argument is beyond asinine. I don't even have to go to per40's or per48's to prove that Duncan is statistically dominant over Garnett in almost every major category -- and particularly in categories like rebounding:

Start at the very beginning, for his career, Garnett has played in 2 more seasons than Duncan and, at the end of the 2006-07 regular season, had played almost 8,000 more minutes than Duncan in NBA games. (KG - 35,536; TD - 27,964). Over their shared careers, Duncan has played more Minutes per game than Garnett only twice (1998-99; 2001-02). Over the courses of their respective careers, Duncan has played 37.5 mpg to Garnett's 38.3 mpg. So, Garnett has been on the floor more -- giving him, in his own special way, more time to roll up numbers.

You'd think, then, that KG would have some pretty big leads on Duncan in major categories.

You'd, of course, be wrong.

Timmy is the better scorer, having averaged 21.83 ppg for his career over Garnett's 20.54. Tim is 29th all-time in PPG; Garnett is 44th.

Tim is the better shooter from the field, having shot .509 for his career to Garnett's .491.

Timmy is also the better rebounder, in terms of rebounds per game, offensive rebounds per game, defensive rebounds per game, and rebound rate. Tim grabs 11.88 rpg for his career (18th all-time), Garnett gets 11.37 (21st all-time). Tim has better offensive rebounding numbers per game (3.2 to 2. and better defensive rebounding numbers (8.7 to 8.6). And Timmy's rebound rate ("an estimate of the percentage of missed shots a player rebounded while he was on the floor") is 18.28 (16th all-time) to Garnett's 17.17 (42nd all-time). Garnett is the better rebounder, my eye.

Not surprisingly, Timmy is the better shot blocker, too. Tim gets 2.47 blocks per game (14th all-time) while KG gets 1.70 blocks per game (36th all-time).

Ultimately, Garnett -- the fantasy dream -- actually does worse than Duncan when comparing more universal metrics like PER, too. Duncan's career PER is 25.17 (6th all-time); Garnett's is 23.84 (15th all-time).

So, where does that leave us. Clearly, Garnett is a better free throw shooter (.780 to .680). He's a better percentage shooter from 3 (.289 to .197). He gets about an assist per game more than Duncan (4.5 to 3.2). And he gets about half a steal more per game than Duncan (1.4 to ..

That's an impressive array of numbers to back up an argument that Garnett is as good or better than Tim Duncan. I'm truly blown away.
