I think rss feeds is like web services. For me I'll go for the web services because it can support inputs and outputs.

Correct me if I'm wrong ang RSS is support giving outputs you cannot input data and then process it.

its not widely known standard but widely use in feeding information. There's no such standard RSS though, as it eventually following standard XML protocols with few datatypes such as data, time, email, url, characters. RSS is just a simple as feeding information to your subscribers. Same concept from any other application out their that detects online update from their client, remind them to download and installed.

The simplicity of RSS makes it lightweight and easy...but its one way to make a SPAM! try to research also about ATOM which work like RSS but focusing in how to do such defense, but the feature are not that enjoyable as what RSS have.

IMHO, its not worth for Thesis... you may include it in your web service or some applications. 1 thing that comes to my mind how are you able to feed 1 million subscribers? how much is the bandwidth cause? can it fully done in 24 hours? how about next day? how many type of feeds you have? P(F,S) = N! / (N-S)!

pwede sad ing.ana, basta mu focus xa sa web development. Mga sikat nga languages lang, ayaw kaau ng old school na kaayu. preferably PHP then pwede java, C#, C, asp.
