Tinuod gyud, naa ko lain2x nga mga lens pero kung mo travel or just suroy2x, akong nikon 18-200vr sige akong dala... unless specifics ang adtuan ayha ra magamit laing lens. I think must have gyud sa mga hobbiest ni nga lens kung kaya sa budget.

lain lain gud gusto ang tao, for me i am contented with my 24-70 for my walk around/travel...why? because walay lain nga lens hehehe

wa man na sa appearance ang performance. the 50mm 1.8 does not have much in the looks department but performs very well at its sweet spot aperture.

i think the IQ will be quite satisfactory. Just quite satisfactory coz its hard to design a zoom with that range. i mean, they could make them excellent and almost as good as primes in terms of IQ but it would be very expensive and very heavy considering the corrective elements they have to cramp inside.

the nikon is so-so, at least for me (tried it on a D200 and then on a D300), when compared to nikon's pro line lenses or canon's L lenses. but that would be comparing oranges to apples.

10x to 20x zooms have their niche and that's it. whether we call it walk around, all around, must-have or everyday lens, it could only produce good images when used properly and that is more especially true when used with a tripod, even with its IS.

btw, congratulations also to nikon users, with the D700, they finally got their 5D.

i have to be contented with my 24-70 2.8 L coz like yatakitumbi, i don't have any other.

why? can you buy the canon now anywhere? nope. so still no choice as of the moment

nya di man tanan maka afford...30% less than the canon and its available now...that makes it a very a good option. if monday siya mu larga (vacation) some place nice, nya he wants a one lens solution and mao raman iyang maafford na lens. pahulaton gyud nimo siya some months from now till the canon becomes available? walay gamit sigi hulat kay di na mabawi ang time lost not being able to shoot.

besides, worst case scenario get a better lens later. maybe an L lens hehehe.
at least di gyapon mabayaran ang photos he can capture now...

and you are assuming sir that the sigma is that bad of a quality than the canon.
check reviews, the sigma isnt bad at all. OS works great too. and we dont have canon to compare it with also...

ey believe me i like canon as much if not more than the next guy but the 18-200 OS is my MOST used and most satisfied sigma lens ive ever owned (and ive gone thru quite the line up already).
and i have ALL the canon f2.8 and f4 zooms worth mentioning and most of the prime lenses for studio work. so i think that says quite a bit bout this lens.

i actually know people who has 2 or more of this exact lens kay gamit kaayo nila sa work. redundant kaayo but it works for them

now if you ask me will i get the canon...well since i can afford it, il probably will...so i can personally test it hehehe.
will it replace my sigma...that would be a big question mark hehehe...if it proves to be that much of a benifit over the sigma, why not
but the sigma does fairly well with macro and its OS is just superb. if canon can beat that, then its a yes

same story ra gud na nikon... most of the users will go for the nikon not the sigma.. because they have the option...
