A lan party is really suppose to be bring your own rig. When you rent a PC sa internet Cafe you can't complain to them nga imung gi bayad dili up to spec sa ilang PC. That is basically why people bring their own rigs, well customized and upgraded rigs, to play the games in every aspect they want too- at the highest resolutions, fastest speeds and the best graphic settings possible. But knowing that the LAN PARTY would still be very new to a lot of people, we strived and did our best to provide PCs. Yes we had problems, walay video cards at first etc.. etc.. but atleast they got video cards to make up for it. And its not like one team nindut, the other team bati, both teams played on the same kind of rigs. In golf, its called Handicap, mas challenging hinuun, thats one way of looking at it. FAIR play gyud to.
> my take on this:
LAN party in theory is not just new, it's not possible to grow big YET if we take it in it's pure meaning of bringing our own rigs to the event. DREAMHACK Philippine version will remain as it is, a DREAM.
We have to face the fact that 95% of the local gaming community can't afford to have their own rigs. With this in mind, we have to be very thankful for NgKai for providing the computers no matter how bad/good they performed because without them, there would have been less than 500 people who could have gone to the event.
I can't totally agree with sir Ryan regarding the FAIR handicapped in relation to the units not having video cards. Many of the gamers that competed in DOTA were used to 800 x 600 resolutions. Others however, like myself, can't see much on resolutions like that. I know this might sound too little, but in competitive gaming, a little difference is too much. Good thing I was able to play on my laptop though. Hehe
Pranka pranka lang, 350 isnt that much for an event like that. Tanaw kag concert nga pila ka uras lang 500 naman gani. Pangita ug LAN PARTY sa kalibutan nga ingun ato kadaka nga less than 350 wala gyud kay makitan. Mostly $10 USD and above ang rate for very small LPs. Katu, provided tanan, Aside form playing- free internet, free wifi, naay food stations, pwede ka mag shopping and most especially the feell of playing beside your openents and laughing with them afterwards, mau na ang essential sa LP, mauna ang purpose sa LP, its not just to win the money or get the prize.
> my take:
We also have to understand sir Ryan that most of the gamers can only play on cafes that are at most PHP 15.00/hour. In fact, I'm willing to be 85% of the gamers there are playing on cafes that are less than PHP 15.00/hour. Money is quite a big issue for these gamers. But still, they are gamers.
Sa monthly LP nato sa BFW which has been going on for years, 250 ang bayad, no prizes at all. Just pure fun lang lingaw lingaw, wala gyuy ni compain for mga 8 years na! imagine that!
