Ninoy is not Cory or Kris. He is his own.

Ninoy being an NPA sponsor is just bullsh*t. Pang daut ra na ky it has no proof. AFAIK, during his time he was even given credit as the appointed emissary for the unconditional surrender of Hukbalahap's Luis Taruc.

Yes, even heroes (just like superheroes) have flaws, but its better not to focus flaws here.

A quick look into a part of his story:

"He was the only "survivor" of the Liberal Party who made it to the senate, where he was inevitably singled out by Marcos and his allies as their greatest threat. In 1968, during his first year in the Upper House, Aquino warned that Marcos was on the road to establishing "a garrison state" by "ballooning the armed forces budget", saddling the defense establishment with "overstaying generals" and "militarizing our civilian government offices"--all these caveats were uttered barely four years before martial law.

In myriad ways Aquino bedeviled the Marcos regime, chipping away at its monolithic facade. His most celebrated speech, insolently entitled "A Pantheon for Imelda", was delivered on February 10, 1969, and assailed the first lady's first extravagant project, the P50 million Cultural Center, which he dubbed "a monument to shame". An outraged President Marcos called Aquino "a congenital liar". The First Lady's friends angrily accused Aquino of being "ungallant". These so-called "fiscalization" tactics of Aquino quickly became his trademark in the senate. During his tenure as senator, he was selected by the Philippine Free Press magazine as one of the nation's most outstanding senators. His achievements at such a young age earned him the moniker "Wonder Boy" of Philippine politics.

Aquino was seen as a contender by many for the highest office in the land, the presidency. Surveys during those times showed that he was the number one choice among Filipinos, since President Marcos by law was prohibited to serve another term.

    MARTIAL LAW

It was not until the Plaza Miranda bombing however--on August 21, 1971 (12 years to the day before Ninoy Aquino's own assassination)--that the pattern of direct confrontation between Marcos and Aquino emerged...

    NINOY'S EXILE...

    HIS RETURN AGAINST ALL ODDS...

    HIS ASSASSINATION...

    THE AFTERMATH...

    THE LEGACY..."

    ---wikipedia

as for his assassination, everyone from the CIA, to the UN, to the CPP to First Lady Imelda was accused of conspiracy. President Marcos was reportedly gravely ill, recovering from kidney transplant when the incident occurred. Theories arose as to who was in charge and who ordered the execution. Some hypothesized that Marcos had a long-standing order for Aquino's murder upon the latter's return.

Then goes the funeral. Two million people lined up the streets for the procession.

Then goes the fraudulent snap elections. Then goes EDSA 1. And as what Fr Reuters said, the events that followed seems to be guided by the "Hand of God"...

Ninoy emerged as a contemporary counterpart of the great Rizal.

    THE WONDER BOY

THE GREATEST PRESIDENT WE NEVER HAD...yes, he is a hero we deserve.

hero.....ninoy for me is a hero....he was a catalyst for change during his time...but i would think that during this time...(arroyo's government)...if ninoy had live...considering his spirit and ideology...he would have taken a bullet again...it be a shame for such a person to have died for what he believes in and as time moves on that which he has died for being tarnished by the current happenings in the country...do we really need to be remembered of what these heros of ours stand for?

did you guys ever experience martial law?

I did and to say that having a dictator and martial law in place is like having a nightmare come true.

What is your proof that Ninoy was a communist?

Ninoy Aquino was NEVER a communist. He was accused of being a communist because he was able to ask Luis Taruc, Hukbalahap leader, to surrender during his stint as the negotiator for the Magsaysay government. He also kept his communication lines open to the NPA while he was the governor of Tarlac. Then, when Plaza Miranda was bombed, it was immediately pinned on the communists who executed the bombing. Ninoy, being Marcos' bane and his communications with the extreme left, made him the perfect target for this witch hunt.

Ninoy Aquino along with Bernabe "Kumander Dante" Buscayno and Victor Corpus, a graduate of the PMA who defected against the dictatorship to join the NPA, were found guilty and sentenced to death by a military tribunal during martial law. Keep in mind however that during martial law, Marcos had complete power over the military.

He believed in freedom and true democracy and fought Marcos till his death in 1983. Even before the declaration of martial law, at the senate, he already exposed oplan saguittarius or better known as "Martial Law" and fought against it because Ninoy knew that this would be used to supress the freedom of the Filipino people.

The Philippines have a lot of heroes. Ninoy maybe one of them but even if we are all heroes in our own rights, our country will never prosper!

If kita tanan pulos na unya heroes, mag away ra gihapon ta.
    Hero will corrupt a hero.

Mao na man gud ato kina-iya. Our culture.

Mao daghan sa ato ganahan gyud maka sulod ug trabaho sa gobyerno.
In government you can earn lots of money.

Matud pa, if pobre gihapon ka after a few years of work in our government, then BOGO/Banga/Botol ka nga pagka empleyado sa atong gobyerno!

Ninoy could've never been executed by the NPA or any other organization except by the Marcos regime. Did you know that there were around a thousand military personnel at the Manila Internationa Airport when Ninoy arrived? and security was tight during that day, how can a single hitman, get in the tarmac without the AVSECOM's knowledge? possible? i seriously doubt it.

    What did Cory achieve?

You got your freedom. the simple fact that you are now able to talk against a president in this forum is freedom which was not allowed during the time of Marcos.

Yes, her government was a mess. but how can you fix in 6 years something that took over 20 years to destroy?

OT i think you better review who Jose Rizal was.. to better understand why I compared him to Ninoy..
His ideas were different.. we should've considered them...
