Question signs of impending death of a CRT monitor?

any istoryans here know the signs of impending death of a monitor?
I have an AOC crt monitor of more than 5 years then recently it showed yellow discoloration on the screen and it really irritated my eyes! I just bought a new cpu and used my old monitor. Is this one of the signs? Or di lang kaya niya ang new CPU? Do I need to buy a new monitor? I am fond of playing games..
