I'm a Shell user and I'm willing to change brand in this case for Petron (smallest) for the rest of the year. We'll see if this works.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the boycott campaign and rallies against gas companies lately.


The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.


Please read it and join us!


By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about P25.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently P33.00 for regular unleaded now. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a liter of gas is CHEAP at P25.00, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.... not sellers.


With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas!


And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.


How?


Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.


Here's the idea:


For the rest of this year, DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies, SHELL and CALTEX. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.


But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Shell and Caltex gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp (sic) out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!


I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10
= 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more
(300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!


If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people and DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from Shell and Caltex. That's all.


How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

SHELL and CALTEX knows how to play this game for a long time and I'm not convince that this way to bring down the oil prices.. of course they will anticipate the supply and demand scenarios here in the Philippines and making sure the importation cost will be profitable for them.. they have huge storage of fuel to hurd oil and then maybe sh*t happens for them hehe GO for it dude!! this not a bad idea! in fact this brilliant!! so let's start now? hehe I'm planning to refuel this weekend and I used to fill it up with Super Unleaded from Shell.. hmrph.. I can contribute by refuel in Petron for this cause

That is not a brilliant idea and I don't think it's effective but if you really into it then it's worth a try.

For me here are the drawbacks of that plan.

1. Incovenience on the part of the motorist to search for a Petron station just to refuel. What if he is already very low in fuel. And could you imagine the capacity of a gas station to service a long line of motorists assuming that all would refuel at Petron. Quite a headache for the motorist to wait for a long period of time just for him to get refueled.

2. Even if all would refuel at Petron, there's no way for Shell and Caltex to sell their gasoline lower than the prevailing market price. It would practically be suicide and just digging their grave of bankruptcy. Assuming that that world market price is P25 per liter and they would sell their gas at P20 per liter just to compete with Petron and lure customers, would they do that? I don't think so.

The only solution to this ever increasing global problem is to create an alternative source of energy. Our country is a major producer of sugar cane, ETHANOL can be extracted from it which can be use as fuel. We can also use other means like SOLAR, WAVE, and WIND ENERGIES. Some places in these country are already using solar panels for electricity and wave and wind energies are on its experimental stages. Another source of energy is DEUTHERIUM, this can be can be extracted in deep places like the Philippine deep. This kind of energy is huge in potential but still remains untapped due to the difficulties in extracting it. Our country is also a heavy user of GEOTHERMAL ENERGY, in fact we are the world's 2nd heaviest user of geothermal energy next only to the United States since we are located in the ring of fire. But so far the best way for us to solve this problem is to be a producer itself of oil. Gloria Macapagal's administration is allowing foreign investors to invest in the exploration of minerals and oil. Right now, there's an exploration for oil in Tanon Strait between Negros Oriental and Cebu. If we will become oil suppliers then we will become self sufficient and would no longer be affected by this ever increasing problem of oil pricing.

@miguel: you are correct with the alternatives the ethanol, geo-geo thingies, BUT mas wa pa nay klaro compared to what I've posted. if ever madayon mas dugay na.
re: inconvenience - i am willing to line up for 30 mins to gas up just for this cause. this makes a lot of sense. yes, controlled tanan sa caltex and shell but they can't control you, me and the rest of us. pero don't be too stupid nga if hapit na ka makabsan dili nalang pud ka mo gas up sa shell. hehe..

re: bankruptcy: well, 20/liter may be too much, so for me 30/liter is ok na lang. ang point here is that dili lang na sila magpatuyang ug increase. yes, mahal jud daan ang oil, pero sa kadako sa ilang companya dili jud sila kakita ug ways nga mobarato? they will be forced into price war and and really compete one another that they will dig up every cost center in their company just to lower prices, they can even opt to decrease salaries of their high-paid executives, minimize their marketing costs etc... kanang mga promo-promo nila usa mana sa nakamahal sa gasolina. di ba? the actual cost of oil is only so much, mo mahal lang na tungod sa ilang expensive selling strategies. bottomline: they can still afford to lower prices. yes they can. dili lang jud sila kay at this point sila man ang nag control. but if we the consumers start something like this... well, who knows... maybe.

if it will make petron rich just to lower fuel prices, so be it. the goal here is to force them to lower the prices. that's it.
