Muslims should accept what they have. Para nako, swapang ra kaayo ni nga move. If di sila makasunod sa constitution diri, then they could go to other Muslim Asian countries.

Muslims want respect? They are hiding in the cloak of Islam. Then mo ingon dayon nga ang mga Christians salbahis. They say that Muslims in the Philippines are peace-loving people? Somehow their attitude and actions doesn't show it. Go to predominantly Muslim parts in Mindanao, astang salbahisa sa mga Muslim sa tinuod lang gyud.

Commander Bravo declares 'all-out war'

A Moro rebel commander behind deadly raids in Lanao del Norte province on Wednesday declared an "all-out war" against the government, saying his fighters were willing to die in battle.

Abdurahman Macapaar of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), also known as Commander Bravo, taunted the military and said his Mujahedin were willing to engage them in firefights anytime.

"We are prepared to trade fire with them until we are decimated. If they cannot finish us, we will finish them," Bravo said over the Radio Mindanao Network. "We are prepared to kill, we are prepared to be killed."

He said the attacks on several towns in the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Sarangani on Monday that left 38 dead were led by "Mujahedin" angered by an aborted land deal with the government.

"What the Muslims want is Islamic justice in Mindanao," Bravo said, referring to the country's main southern island where the MILF has been waging a separatist rebellion since 1978.

"In the eyes of Allah we are not terrorists," he said, reacting to accusations by some government officials that he and his rebel unit no longer follow the MILF chain of command.

Bravo is a senior MILF leader who controls large rebel areas in the mountains of Lanao in Mindanao. Short and of medium build, Bravo along with another MILF commander named Umbra Kato, is a separatist hardliner who has repeatedly staged attacks despite ongoing peace talks.

Kato's men last week illegally occupied more than 20 villages in another Mindanao province, triggering intense gunbattles.

Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno late Tuesday offered 10 million pesos (222,000 dollars) for any information leading to the capture of the two.

The recent flare up of violence came after the Supreme Court on August 4 stopped the government from signing an agreement expanding a Muslim autonomous area to be controlled by the MILF.

The proposed agreement had triggered massive street protests from Christian provinces and towns in Mindanao.

"The government has been deceiving the MILF for a long time," Bravo said.

Hostilities meanwhile spread to other provinces Wednesday, with the army reporting it was engaged in gunbattles with MILF rebels in the town of Shariff Aguak that has left one soldier wounded so far.

Mujahideens’ behind Lanao attacks - Commander Bravo

MANILA, Philippines — Amid threats of disciplinary action from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) leadership, a rebel commander on Wednesday disowned last Monday’s deadly attacks in Lanao del Norte province and said “mujahideens" fighting for “Allah" (God) were responsible.

“Wala kaming alam diyan sa atake sa Lanao del Norte. Narito kami sa kampo. (We have nothing to do with those attacks in Lanao del Norte. We were inside our camp)," Abdullah Macapaar said in an interview with Radio Mindanao Network.
Commander Bravo, as Macapaar is better known, is the commander of the MILF’s 102nd Base Command, the unit blamed for simultaneous attacks in the towns of Kolambugan, Maigo and Kauswagan last Monday, resulting in the deaths of 36 people including three soldiers.

While denying that his men were responsible, Bravo justified the role the “mujahideens" played.

“Ang mga mujahideen ang may gawa niyan, ‘yun sundalo ng Allah. Ang sinusunod nila ay ang talagang kautusan ng Panginoon Allah. (It was the mujahideens, God’s warriors, who were responsible. They only follow the will of Almighty God)," he said.

At the same time, Bravo warned that his group would stand idly and to answer fire with fire should government forces decide to attack MILF positions.

“Kung dumating ang mga sundalo dito (sa kampo namin), handa kaming makipag-barilan hanggang maubos kami at kung hindi nila kami maubos ay uubusin namin sila. Walang ng usapan hanggat hindi ibinibigay sa amin ang Islamic justice sa Mindanao," he said.

MILF high officials earlier denounced the attacks on civilian targets in Lanao del Norte and other parts of Mindanao last Monday and said these were not authorized by the group’s central committee.

MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu, who was interviewed by RMN after Bravo, said the attacks are now being investigated by the joint government and MILF ceasefire panels, and that appropriate punishments await whoever was responsible.

Lt. Col Torres Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesman, expressed disbelief over Bravo’s denials.

“Just this morning, there was condemnation coming from the MILF leadership of what Kato and Bravo did. So it’s not only the AFP and PNP who are saying these two commanders were responsible for the attacks," he said in a separate interview.

Kato is the MILF commander whose unit was blamed for attacks on civilian targets in North Cotabato province last week.

On Bravo’s statement that they are ready to fight to the last man, Torres said: “Well it’s up to them. We will pursue them to punish them for their criminal acts." - GMANews.TV
