Are there J2ME MIDP 2.0 programming enthusiasts here?
What kind of MIDlets are you writing?

Havent tried midlets but this should be an easy toolkit/framework to use.
Any ideas of games or apps in mind? Maybe we should start there.
You're right.Â* It's a very easy to use.Â* If you have a modicum of Java experience, then you can make any MIDlet.
Games are the most popular kind.Â* I'm actually teaching MIDP 2.0 to our Cellphone Evaluation group at NEC. I'm still
learning the new Game API.Â* I still think it has limitations (as far as I have explored it) such as it doesn't allow you toggle
off repeated key presses (e.g., I want my character not to jump repeatedly even if I'm pressing the UP key).
When I was still unemployed, I was even able to sell a game to Siemens-Belgium.Â* There were a few or no software
companies making MIDlets then so any independent developer had a chance of making a few bucks.Â* But nowadays,
there are companies like Gameloft (http://www.gameloft.com/) and Handy-Games (www.handy-games.com) that
kills any chance of hobbyists programmers to make big bucks.Â* I mean just visit their sites and look at the quality of
their games.Â* They have sprite artists/animators, sound engineers, level designers, etc.Â*
But as I've said, this is just a hobby for me.
is there a site where we can start learning this?
If you don't know basic Java, learn it first. Then google for MIDP or J2ME tutorials. Example: http://www.j2me.org/wiki/index.php/Tutorials.
