ahm, mOre likely its a nOte Organizer..the Only difference it has tO Other nOte Organizing SOftware that were already existing is that it has a search engine which can dO faster or quicker access tO the desired nOtes/data the user wanted tO retrieve...

currently this sem, were Only after the thesis writing; for the implementatiOn Of it will be done next sem pa man...

im kinda having a prOblem in thesis writing kay NOOB kay kOg english, and the Other thing is, wa pami kita sa akO partner ug adviser whO can help us...all the teachers are now fully lOaded w/ tasks and other stuffs..wa nami laing makit-an..

ano po algorithm nito? you should consider first researching same technologies... and search algorithm, like binary tree or the fastest way how google indexes the websites. let say.... a new note was saved by the users. the notes contain... "Meeting, Schedule, ProjectName" those important keywords. the file will have a structured like dictionary. that everytime you search notes containing keywords such as "Schedule" the system will give the notes.

now...you have a so-called engine here...who will you track newly created notes and indexed them accordingly... same like google...who able to index millions of website a day using python script (as this is good in text manipulation)

so from here, the user will have additional choices in searching his/her files. like "filename, date, keywords, time, username, etc..."

you really have to defend how this be more advantage than those who used CMS take note that this one is an opensource, free of charge and tons of community to help. CMS can work on LAN/WAN or even in Mobile phones.
excellent backend for admins and frontend for users.

maybe you need to add from there... like encryption? or a summary? merge or join features like notes created in a month? think something that your school teachers haven't seen before. for sure they will like it....

Students nowadays are sometimes having problems taking down notes. They are usually not organized in writing their notes; they sometimes write it in a scratch of paper or sometimes in notebooks that are untidy. But since the technology is now in mutiny, students are beginning to get lazy. They want everything to be in digital or to be high tech.

Notes organizer software can make organizing notes faster, efficient and it gives less pester to students for they will no longer flip their notebooks just to search or look for a specific topic.

youll need to present the problem in a more technical way and state the importance to develop such system. reorganize you sentence too... dont repeat 'sometimes' too many times i'm not an expert on this though lol.

is this gonna be online? or something?
if its online its gonna be more practical. where a student have a laptop and copy notes etc etc... where he can retrieve his notes online or export it locally etc etc where he can share his documents to friends alike etc.. like if his absent cuz he got drunk.. he can just ask his friend for an access to his notes.. and assignment LOL

basically your system is for organizing, fast searching, keywording.. etc etc.. build from that idea and create the problem lol.

you're welcome, I've checkd your documents and it needs a lot of improvement and it must.... I remember before when I was working in my thesis, I was rushing my time to finished, and in fact I changed some of my methodology at edit my program. its normal, when it comes to IT Industry....so you must be prepared anytime.

some of my sincere comments are:

INTRODUCTION

Do not discuss right away regarding your thesis… start it in some broad ideas. Do not target “students” or anyone first. Do not say “students are beginning to get lazy’ it makes your teacher says that you are? Being lazy is different from being highly technological. Do not say “Notes organizer software can make organizing notes faster” it makes no sense for me… but again this shouldn’t be in your introduction.

Theoretical Background

do focus on the theory and concept only! not in your project.
do not say “Personal Document Retrieval System is about an organizer software differs from other organizer software in its simplicity and reliability.“ because at his stage our main task is to organize and focus the development or research on a theoretical level. You must determine instead.

Establish the most significant concepts
write about existing theories and their links with the research the big question us WHEN this started? And don’t ever forget to compile a bibliography at the end of your research.

Related Literature
I think this is wrong…or let me say, better you find a related thesis of yours and arrange it properly…. But be sure to put some pretty introduction or headings then you can discuss some of related to your projects. Example:

Symbian OS9.1 Notes Reminder for mobile, discussing the platform, usage, advantages, disadvantages, etc….

Microsoft OneNote 2007 etc…………

<existing thesis in your school>…………………..

<company in house software> ………………….

Then your summary……

THE PROBLEM
Significance of the Study

Your significance of the study needs a lot of improvement. it is the heart of your thesis... why you develop that? what makes it important...? do not claimed that it help the students blah blah blah... not unless who have it in your research methodology, implementation and evaluation. example... you said "it helps Professional" what kind of professional? marami professional, but not all have notebooks right? and then this must be supported... you've done some implementation and methodology... like online surveys, questionnaires or apply in real working environment. but of course, this will be stated on the next part of the document. for me significance of the study is the last job thing to do. although you can predict, but it must be proven.


RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

If your thesis is based on research it should contains quantitative or qualitative research what are those method use Papers Survey How many students? Professional? Effective bas a kanila ang software na ito? Meron bang gumagamit? Sino? You can makes some chart, graphs, etc…

i got some copy of our thesis.. but its back in cebu.
it was reviewed by some arshole @ DOST lol. and i tell you we got a lot of harsh words from him but in the end we learned a lot
