Regarding sa dividends na issue bro Giddyyup. FYI lang ha, GSIS is giving dividends to its members(policy holders), I dunno if thats what they call profit sharing though.
lahi na nga klase nga "dividend" bro oi. it's called "policy dividend". that's not what we are talking about here.
Policy dividend is about the dividends earned from the premiums of each policy holders that when they retire they get their lump sum. just like your private insurance...bali imong kwarta bah ga tubo bah.
for example u r contributing 1,000 every month sa GSIS for 10 yrs. that's accumulated 120k. but when u retire, dili 120k ra imong madawat. that's 120K plus the dividends earned from your premium. that's something that cannot be shared (profitably) to other members but only for yourself.

GSIS man kaha atong giistoryahan?Cooperatives, on the other hand, allocate dividends according to members' activity.
whether it was misinformation or disinformation it was still wrong. you know you are a convincing person and when people believe your statement, these people will all have the wrong information. even if it's "only" forum, daghan gihapon gabasa.of course that was "misinformation". that's why i corrected the error. lahi ni sa "disinformation" ha. masayop man gyud nang tawo pre. maayo pka dha dili cguro masayop. dili man sab ko columnist pre nga i-printa akong gisulti sa newspaper. Forum ra man ta dire.
tan-awa ra gud imo explanation. it's just like what i said. before you declare a surplus, budgetan nimo daan para plumbing then ang sobra mao i-declare nimo surplus. in your illustration, ang plumbing dili na sya dapat part of reserved for emergencies kay known naman daan. gahinan gyud na sya daan.
let's say u have 10,000 pesos a month income:
8,000 pesos to keep your household running
1,000 pesos savings (P500 time deposit, P500 reserved in case of emergencies (like leak in plumbing) <---MAO NI AKO PASABOT
1,000 pesos surplus (dividend to give ur wife)
gets? wa gihapon? aw ambot nlng wui...
unsa naman update sa big challenge ni winston garcia that if he can't push Meralco to lower its rate to at least 10-20%, he will resign from the Meralco board?
successful sya o palpak?
oh please. don't beat around the bush. pls clarify your definition of "dividend" and which dividend u r talking about para dili maglibog ang mga mgbasa nato dinhi. please remember, u r supposedly talking about profit-sharing sa GSIS members. beh asa man ani kno beh?
(1) dividend - payment of a corporation to their shareholders in the form of profit or surplus; Payment of a coop to their members, depending on their activity; Payment of GSIS to the gov't in the form of surplus profit.
(2) insurance dividend - Money paid annually to policyholders participating in cash value life insurance policies; a return of the policyholder's premiums. (this kind of dividend which u r clearly talking about is in no way called profit-sharing)
NGANO? coz u make it look like GSIS is a coop. u earlier said members can get profit-sharing. so unsa man diay pasabot nimo beh? AFAIK, the only organizations that can give profit-sharing scheme to their members are:
(1) coop
(2) sinking fund entity
(3) networking sales
ok. so if u r correct, so meaning? surplus profit and expense for fixing GSIS system are entirely different accounting entries. see? aw, makita man gyud ning katag ani ron bah...
that's why i corrected my statement. i made the wrong right, not wrong wrong. People could've believed my statement but i corrected it. so they believe now my corrected statement. period.
Aw, naa ra man diay na. nagkasinabot ra man diay ta. call it "reserved funds for emergencies", "operational maintenance expense", or whatever, as long as dili na cya part sa "surplus profit"...
unya ma "known" ba diay daan nang mokalit ug leak imong plumbing? mkabaw ba diay ka kng kanusa mo leak? dili intawn oi. mao btaw in my VERY SIMPLE illustration, part ang plumbing leak sa other reserved expense (an analogy to GSIS system. actually they do have reserved expense for the GSIS system. the only question is, how, when, & why are they gonna spend it). u can also do ur own simple illustration to talbog mine, u know. pero bsan unsaon nimo ug tuwad tuwad as long as the end result is that it is not part of ur surplus that u give to ur wife.
SO NOW, with this being said, why complain on the issue of the 1B surplus profit? why r u saying "fix the system first before giving the dividend to the gov't"? THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF MY ARGUMENT...actually, with that statement u just said, u r in fact contradicting ur own previous statements.
tanawa ug klaroha imong mga arguments pre ky gakatag imong agi and people will have ur wrong information. daghan ang gabasa...at least i corrected mine.

Bro, I googled "policy dividend" and nothing came up, only "dividend policy", and its not even close to your description. And why would GSIS call it dividend if it does not fit its meaning, why don't they call it interest instead so as not to mislead .
Maybe someway or another it is still profit sharing bro, coz the amount is not fixed(ex. 3% interest like in a bank). I used to work in Pag-IBIG and they still call it dividends, instead of interest, we compute it annually based on income the previous year.
"policy dividend" is short for "insurance policy dividend". some would simply call it "insurance dividend". the term is not misleading. GSIS is not the only one who uses that term but around the world when u talk about insurance.
wa ka kita ug "policy dividend" bro? here are some links where the term is being used:
Estate Planning with Life Insurance - Google Book Search
Shareholders Agreements: A Tax and ... - Google Book Search
III - MEDIA
the word "dividend" has a variety of meanings, depending on how u use it. here's more:
Dividend (from www.answers.com):
n.
1. Mathematics. A quantity to be divided.
2.a. A share of profits received by a stockholder or by a policyholder
in a mutual insurance society.
b. A payment pro rata to a creditor of a person adjudged bankrupt.
3.a. A share of a surplus; a bonus
b. An unexpected gain, benefit, or advantage.
nope. GSIS' policy dividend cannot even comes close to "profit-sharing". i already explained all that. Amount of dividend shall be in accordance with a dividend allocation formula to be determined by the Chief Actuary of the GSIS.
(1) In some companies, there is what they call "Profit Sharing Plan". A Profit Sharing Plan is a retirement plan in which the contributions are made solely by the employer.
(2) In the U.S., 401k plans are based on profit sharing scheme.
(3) In mutual funds, dividends are paid out of income, usually on a quarterly basis from the fund's investments. The tax on such dividends depends on whether the distributions resulted from capital gains, interest income, or dividends received by the fund.
if somehow GSIS adopts the plans of the 3 i mentioned, then by all means naay profit sharing plan ang GSIS for their members. so far wala pa man koy nakit-an.
What we are talking about here since the start is the GSIS Member Claims & Benefits kung naa bay profit-sharing. Wala...

i am as direct as i can be..let's not talk about coop coz it's already going around the bush.
let me put it this way.
where did the dividend come from? - from profit, right?
isn't the profit divided among the members, policy holders in the form of dividend, right?
now dividend is in fact a form of profit sharing.
different acctg entries bitaw so what? unsay labot sa acctg entries, nikatag naman ka.ok. so if u r correct, so meaning? surplus profit and expense for fixing GSIS system are entirely different accounting entries. see? aw, makita man gyud ning katag ani ron bah...
ang simple explanation nalibog na sad. how can an expense like plumbing be surplus? ang akong pasabot, before you declare a surplus, you should put the repair of the plumbing sa budget and then declare ka na ug surplus sa remaining.Aw, naa ra man diay na. nagkasinabot ra man diay ta. call it "reserved funds for emergencies", "operational maintenance expense", or whatever, as long as dili na cya part sa "surplus profit"...
unya ma "known" ba diay daan nang mokalit ug leak imong plumbing? mkabaw ba diay ka kng kanusa mo leak? dili intawn oi. mao btaw in my VERY SIMPLE illustration, part ang plumbing leak sa other reserved expense (an analogy to GSIS system. actually they do have reserved expense for the GSIS system. the only question is, how, when, & why are they gonna spend it). u can also do ur own simple illustration to talbog mine, u know. pero bsan unsaon nimo ug tuwad tuwad as long as the end result is that it is not part of ur surplus that u give to ur wife. we are already talking that there is a problem with the plumbing, ikaw pa gani nihatag na plumbing problem as example. di ba known na? karon imo na sad ibutang na unknown. i am not trying to outwit you, i am illustrating what i believe twould help people understand and i do not have to tuwad-tuwad. besides, we run the household well with better risk management, everything is known and were ready for anything. we also do not throw plates, tinidor or whatever like sleeping in the sala.
ikaw ang nagkatag...call it whatever you believe...i'll stick to what is right.that's why i corrected my statement. i made the wrong right, not wrong wrong. People could've believed my statement but i corrected it. so they believe now my corrected statement. period.
tanawa ug klaroha imong mga arguments pre ky gakatag imong agi and people will have ur wrong information. daghan ang gabasa...at least i corrected mine.
hunahuna-a kuno, what if kung walay ni-correct nimo? all those who believe in your posting were fed with wrong information. all of them will have and probably share the wrong information and that just too bad.
