Default Christian Contemporary Music versus Traditional Christian Music

What can you say bout these two? Which style is really glorifying to God? I am actually for Traditional Christian music found in our hymn book than the contemporary. The CCM (christian contemporary music) sounds like rock, modern and a lot of times conform to the worldly music, except that the lyrics is christian but the sound or the melody isn't... This is just my opinion, i wanna know what's yours. Anyways, CCM or traditional these two cannot bring salvation but only faith in Christ. But i want to know which is more appropriate and really for worship in your own thoughts. God Bless!

Personally, i am leaning more on the Puritan type [that is the Traditional type you are referring] of corporate worship--Hymns, not too loud music and stuff. I love the time tested, the orthodox theology that we sing in our hymns.

    sample:

"A Mighty Fortress is our God" by Martin Luther

" And can it be" by Charles Wesley [brother of that great evangelist used mightily of God John Wesley]

" Crown Him with many Crowns" Matthew Bridges and Godfrey

    "Fairest Lord Jesus"

"Blessed Assurance" by that blind hymn writer who wrote about 8000 hymns!!! Fanny Crosby

[although there is some wrong theology in this hymn of hers. of course no Hymn is infallible and inerrant save that which is in the Bible]

In this hymn, it is portrayed that it is the angels that gives sweet assurance of salvation to the trusting sinner. The Bible never taught such a doctrine. It is the Holy Spirit of God through His Word that gives sweet and blessed assurance that one is indeed saved and a child of God.

"Holy, Holy Holy" by Reginald Heber

But i am not too dogmatic about this mode of corporate worship. I can still fellowship with those who do not see eye to eye with me on this one, so long as they truly trust in Christ alone for salvation and are walking in holiness, fine with me.

Traditional Christian music is played in the Holy Mass
CCM is played in youth gatherings and prayer meetings

its not a sin to play christian rock as long as you are glorifyng God with it's lyrics...

    Default ok man ang duha

i respect both christian music... ang contemporary kay para sa mga di tiguwang...and traditional sa mga tiguwang but eventually ni adapt ra jud ang mga tiguwang kay wa man sila mahimo kay most bands sa church are not oldies man.

i remembered one time that nauso na ang mga rock style na worship and since i played drums sa church when i was in high school medyo kusog2x jud ug bunal... ang american pastor nga wa kasabot labeled me as "DEVILISH DRUMMER!.."hahaha... and to think the songs we're playing then are don moen songs! samot na karon... nabag-o ra iya thinking sa new style of worship when he saw his own brother dancing sa mga latest christian songs...

but still nindot ra gihapon ang hymns... it really sets the mood for worship sometimes basta naa lang sa sakto nga time i-tukar...

i would say it goes by the era or time...

we have to remember during the times of the OT, they didn't have string instruments, merely drums and tambourines... then came the harp... then came the guitar... then came the electric guitar and so on...

music is an art that evolves... it is but an instrument or a tool... the only main thing that we need to watch out for is for who the music is for and for what purpose are you using tool for...

but as for what is written in the bible, music was never used to preach, but was used to glorify, magnify and praise God... not man...

frankly, I lean more to CCM but doesn't mean I dont listen to old Hymns... Sometimes when my mom plays her hymns collection, it really gives me peace and makes me think about how good God is...

    >the main thing is that it should glorify GOD not man, i totally agree with this.

i listen more to CCM but i'm being careful with them too. i do careful research before
i consider the artist because it makes a great impact on our worship.
as a tool, it should really promote worship.. it should directly exalt the Lord.
it should be founded in truth.

but i do appreciate the old hymns because it mostly takes away the focus from yourself
and what you feel and allows you to praise God for who He is.
