Scientists able to move an object without touching
    GARETH EDWARDS

SCIENTISTS at Edinburgh University have developed a way of moving an object without touching it, in breakthrough research which could be as revolutionary as the discovery of electricity.

The team of researchers has been able to move objects across flat surfaces and even up a slope with nothing more than a light beam.

In the future, the technology could be developed to make molecular machines, and with research could eventually lead to the development of artificial muscles which can perform specific physical tasks...

Local invention makes transport float in the air

    By MADEL SABATER

A Filipino inventor yesterday revealed that his invention, which can make land, air, and sea transportation float in the air, will "change all the transportation system in the world" once it is implemented.

The invention, "Solar-Powered Floatation Device for All Types of Vehicles," was invented by V. Y. Yam of Manila.

"This invention is a combination of the solar (power) and the balloon," Yam said.

Though a prototype is yet to be developed, Yam said that his idea is already registered for patent with the country’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO), the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and the International Property Office.

According to the inventor, the principle behind his idea is that once an entire thing such as a vehicle becomes weightless, "the solar power that is generated by the panel would be strong enough to move forward."

With the use of solar power, he said, weight would not be a problem anymore.

"In the future, when they start building this kind of vehicle, there’s no need for gasoline because totally, (it uses) 100 percent solar power," he said, adding that his invention could be used for airline and cargo shipments as well.

"With this invention, you can go to any island in the Philippines," he said.

Yam said that his invention is "safe" because "it can float forever in the air" and that traveling at night would not be a problem since a battery could be attached to the "floating vehicle."

i just saw something just now from Business nightly sa ANC... and they reported about the CEbuano inventor... Guardo Jr.. He made an invention about a car with railways and still looking some foreign investors to fund his invention. Mas maganda talaga pag ma realize itong project na ito. This would make Filipinos proud and could save the whole world because of the oil price.

OT: part of our problem is that our government doesnt give enough support to our filipino inventors, athletes, etc.... resulta, foreigners nasad ang mu invest and sila nasad ang mu datu and makinabang.

you can't expect government to support any inventions or breakthroughs that would eventually be of disadvantage for them..
