In demand? Hmmmmm... only some of the cobol/powerbuilder/legacy programmers were lucky and landed a good job until now but the question is that until when ... yes some of the old banks still uses these technologies but do you think they will use it forever? I guess it best to adopt something new ...

yes i agree. It's in demand for those nga gagamit ana. pero have you think pila ra na sila kabuok? If you'll say there more than a million, it would only be around 2-3% of the total IT industry. which is still quite small. which means sooner or later it would disappear. It's just like your on an old house surrounded by new ones. sooner or later you would renovate yours.

FYI, Powerbuilder 11 supports the .NET platform.
Try it before saying something "off" about it. It's a good rapid development tool for database applications. I even thought that Powerbuilder would not go past version 7.

Gamay ra gyud naggamit co'z it's an expensive software and not readily available. Dili parehas sa Microsoft products na bisan asa kilid-kilid makapalit ka. Naa pa jud express editions so anybody can learn them.

And I'm not saying this because I'm a die-hard Powerbuilder programmer. I'm not but I've tried it. I decided to stick with Microsoft since I'm already comfortable with its technologies and I don't develop database apps only. If I can get hold of PB 11, I might consider using it again for database apps.

correct.. but i think it will take long.. coz there are still some companies willing to stay in low level programming because it can easily communicate with hardware devices..

agility is the name of the game, the times will always change in it, if you fail/refuse to adapt and innovate -- and maybe be dumb enough not to see that your technology(or tech-religion) is going down, then down you shall go with them..

don't stop learning and quit listening what others predict to be IN and OUT in future. develop your skill because you love it not because everyone like it.
