it's good to be back...just like sir inkodell, i got busy in the past weeks and it ate much of my time that i wasn't able to run regularly. now that my workload has lessened, i'm back running. for a start, i'm doing 45 minute runs (approx 7.5 kms) every other day since last week. by next week i'll do 1 hour runs just like what i'm doing before.
hope to see you guys soon in one of the future fun runs....![]()
Anybody hear of TNF 100k run? Check this out: http://trailsign.tk
Who will be joining from Cebu? Gogogo Cebu runners.
Below is my first post on this thread. It was posted at 01-25-2008, after the Sinulog Half-Marathon Run
When I made this run i didn't have an idea how far was 21k. But I was never tempted to go fast although it was frustrating to see runners passing you by. The only practice i had was a two (2) 10 km run (2 min rest / walk in between) which i finished at 2:22 and which i did exactly 8 days before the race.
I think my pace was 7min per km or maybe slower. If we convert that into run/jog around the oval that would probably be 2 min & 50 sec per 400 meters . This was the pace i maintained till i finished the 21 k. What I had in mind then was to finish it within 2 hours and 30 minutes and I was pleased when i clocked 2:16. And finishers at 2:30 were even big smile when they cross the line as if they were at the top. I think every finisher in that race felt they were winners.
The piece of advise i can give...rest and hydrate a day before the race.... don't be in a hurry...take a slower pace than your regular 10k run...leave the prizes to the pros.
By the way RIP to a fallen fellow runner Councilor Bernie of Sambag II. He suffered cardiac arrest 7 days ago (July 8, 200from today. He had his last run on practice 21k run on July 6, 2008.
I have nothing but respect.

i couldn't put a face on the name, but i'm sure i've seen him. it's sad. the members of cerc are going to wear black ribbons during the milo marathon in his memory. they are dedicating their run for bernie. may his soul rest in peace.Originally Posted by peacemaker
it scares me a bit, how an experienced runner with an above average fitness level can succumb to a heart failure. was it overtraining? how old was he?
Overtraining probably. I'm not sure if he was 57.
After his death everyone was talking against overdoing it. Sad indeed.
Time to move on. See you on August 3. Good luck to everyone.
i thought running, jogging, walking, and the like is good for the heart, and it makes you healthy....(sigh)
bros, i got 1 more question:
unsay rota anang 5k run ?
tagai ta idea mga istoryans.
i know it starts and ends at abellana, but gusto unta ko makahibaw if as particularly mo-uturn ug other turns. in other words, ang rota.
5k lang kay murag nosebleed ko anang 21k sa pagkakarn.
help bay.
these activities are actually good for the heart. but nothing is ever good for anything if overdone.
he probably got a little too excited over a future international marathon race. his wife said, days before he died, he had been running 20k's consecutively. let's just pray for him and learn a lesson.
