SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – JR Gerilla drained a three-point shot with seven seconds remaining to lift the Tagaytay-Cavite Heroes to a sensational 79-78 upset win over the Iloilo Mang Inasals yesterday, advancing to the final of the Pampanga leg of the Liga Pilipinas Tour at the University of Assumption gym here.
Late in the evening, the host Pampanga Buddies booked a final date with the Heroes at 3 p.m. today by downing the Zamboanga Amores, 98-86, as Larry Rodriguez scored 21 points and Emerson Oreta 20.

Iloilo was within 25-22 after the the first quarter. But Pampanga broke away in the second quarter, 32-17, on the way to a 57-39 bulge at the half. Winless in the qualification round, the Heroes rode on the heroics of Fritz Bauzon, who had 16 points, and Jonathan Rivera (15) to essay one of Liga's most
stirring comebacks since the Pagadian Explorers when it ruled the Misamis leg last week. Tenacious battle was waged from the onset of the game marked by 11 deadlocks and 14 lead changes. Chito Jaime led the Mang Inasals (2-2) with 23 points and eight rebounds, his basket with 2:20 to go giving Iloilo a 76-69 advantage.
