Filipino singers all set for the 2008 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA)
The Philippines’ delegation is all set to conquer the 2008 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), which will be held from July 19 to 27 at the Universal Studio City Walk and Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, California.
Our delegates for this year’s “Hollywood Olympics,” will be an “all-vocalists” team with eight junior contestants (age 15 and below), and seven senior contestants (age 16 and above).
The juniors are:
Catherine Loria of Lucena City.
Cherry Palad, Trumpets Playshop alumna.
Glee Nette Gaddi, Department of Tourism delegate to the 2007 Korea Travel Fair in Seoul.
Rachel Razon, Fil-Am pop and R&B vocalist.
Marek, Enzo & Ruiz Razon, musical theater actors seen in ‘Children’s Letters to God.’
Tippy dos Santos, Belle in Ateneo Children Theater production of Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast.’
The seniors are:
CJ Concepcion, singing nurse from Manila.
Dex de Rosa, Thuy in the Australian production of ‘Miss Saigon.’
Abe Dorado, Filipina singer based in Milan, Italy.
King, Star Records’ artist.
Marielle Corpuz, singer from Nueva Ecija.
Panky Trinidad, scholar in ABS-CBN’s ‘Pinoy Dream Academy.’
Paolo Ledesma, 3rd Avenue band’s lead vocalist.
Only four Filipino delegates won the “Grand Champion Vocalist of the World” title in the last three years: Jed Madela in 2005, The Cercado Sisters in 2006, Reymond Sajor and Aria Clemente in 2007.
