@aquafire: Sound-wise, quality-wise, and overall, which would you prefer, Pro harp or special 20s? There's not much difference in price... which should i buy, master? If both are more or less of the same caliber, then I'll have the Pro Harp... black is byutiful.. hehehe...C, A, D (as u suggested!)

About the instructionals, I'm more interested in learning new licks and techniques so if you can find one, the better...

I think at your stage the best instructional will be the blues songs with harmonica. I have compiled some Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson II and Big Walter Horton. And a few others. Both Hohner Models sound alike (to my ears). I have both models in my harp case and a couple of blues harp models just because they were on sale. It is enough that you decide on the keys. C,A and D. Black is cool but it can chip.(rare)

@aquafire: Been surfing the net lately... murag mas recommended man sa mga players ang Special 20. Di ba kana man pud imong ginagamit? Hmmmm... Naglibog na nuon ko da... I think I'll have to go with function rather than form... that's if you havent bought the Pro Harps yet.

Was supposed to go to TJ's tonite, wa man koy kuyog kay ni back-out akong migo... nxt week nalang.

Master, what's ur opinion on Hohner Big River harps? I've read that some pro players even endorse it... Di ba mas barato kuno ni, pero ang quality ug sound same ra sa ubang hohner?

I've been thinking about these "guidelines" on how to purchase "my" harps:
1. C harp - Your personal choice between Special 20 and Pro Harp.
2. A harp - The one you didnt choose for #1 (bet the Spcl 20 & Pro H).
3. D harp - Big River
4. G harp - Big River

I've read that these are the 4 most important keys for blues so I think I got to have them. THe total price would still be around 3T i guess... tama ba?

So there it is... 4 harps na akong ipapalit, keys of C, A, D, G... pls verify if my guidelines are sound ones... (no pun intended.)

There are no big river harps available at this shop. Big river harps are like the Adventure model of Hohner. They may be more sturdy but the sound is not the same as the 2 recommended models. I think They may be around 500 -800pesos.
There is no Key of A available for Pro Harp at this moment. 3T will only get you 3harps. Another harp is another K. Still all in alll you will save tons from shipping if you buy it online. If you have the money it is better to get more keys and maybe an extra for the key you want to practice on. I don't want to discourage you but if you use the harp heavily it will only take a few months to get your reeds flat. Then you may want to study how to tune your harps.

I will wait for your Ten songs. Jump to that part in your book that talks about chords. And if you can start using the tonguing effect early then it will not be difficult to shift later.
The Ten songs you will chose will be my basis to guide you which techniques you need to focus on.

@serpentboy: i'm finding it hard to find time for practice. been out of town again.

@aquafire: the only song i have in mind with harmonica in it is Alanis' Head Over Feet. i've seen The Hansons play harmonica in their newest album but i'm not very familiar with that album. i love the Counting Crows. my brother says one of them plays the harmonica, only i didn't notice that before. so i'd be downloading some of their songs and see for myself. alright, i'll try to 'jump' if i could.

i'd love to be able to play that perfectly using the harmonica. i've been wanting to play that song for years, at a very special time, every after Christmas. but i just haven't found the opportunity to. wala lang. ganahan ko pang emote. i want to play it nga mag emote every after Christmas. hehe.

You are in luck! A Long December by Counting Crows. I think I have that CD "Recovering the Satellites " but has not really listened to it yet. I will look for it. I am not sure if it has harmonica.
