hi miramax!
my dad and practicaly all my uncles, brothers nd guy cousins graduated frm shsb and they all turnd out pretty good..those were durng the days of the old tho..i keep hearng from other ppl who are activly or directly involved w/ the shs society that they're struggling nw to keep up the high qualitystandards they had durng their "glory days"..but for me, murag maayu man gihapun na sila coz i cn see alot of achievers even from the pinaka-recent batches..i guess shs-j is still going thru a rough patch as of now ky naa pa gud sila sa transition stage from being all-boys to coed what w/ the newly relocated campus, modified learning methods, new admin (only chinese were allowd to run the school b4, karun pwde na mga pinoy or mga spanish-filipino) etc..i believe after goin thru this "transition stage", shsj will reach its exceptional standard once again. give this school a shot. its nt as ridiculously expensive as other so-called good schools like cie, cis, springdale etc ..) pero sakto ang gipang ingon sa uban tao: shsj's method in teaching chinese lessons is not that deeply ingrained sa mga students nila..they might as well be merely memorizing symbols then just forgetting totally what they learned after they have passed the exams..howevr the reason why some of the other shs students are really super fluent chinese speakrs/writers is bec of their family background: usually, mao ning mga intsik gyud who are very strongly attached to their chinese roots, conversing in mandarin everyday w/ family, watching chinese language media, reading chinese comics/bks (they were raised to embrace and love their chinese heritage)..dnt wori, it does help to have a chinese tutor for ur kid tho..also, dont wori or be intimidated that othr stdents might look down on ur son jst bec of his background. my bro's batch got along quite nicely w/ students from "simple families". yes, there are spolied snobby brats in shs like in all other schools but just encourage ur kid to show to others that he is sincerely striving hard sa iya studies and in his general being as a person and i can assure u that he will be respected and more than accepted by even the brattiest brats of shs
the school would be a big plus but its not in the school its in the student....peace!
