Yeah the gtx280 is the fastest card. But with its price its ridiculous.
Ati is setting a new trend for producing very similarly performing products but half the price.
And Nvidia is setting a trend like what the gasoline stations are doing. $$$

I can hardly tell that the price is reversing.
$550 - GTX280
$299 - 4870
Still a $250 price difference and 10-20% performance gains over the hd4870.
But the price for GTX is more than 83% higher than HD4870.
Well for budget NVidia loyalist you can always get a 9800gtx or 8800gt. Which are currently eating the dust of 4850 at $199.
