Why is the hands blurry? Where's the focal point here ? The eyes ? Or the pasted image on fire ? Element here is fire isn't it (there's suppose to be smoke on fire right)? Nice work though, you have good ears from your mentor. How much ba to enroll with Aborttryfail ? Maybe I enrol if I can afford after I get me a Fuji S9000.
the bluring of her hands are suppose to be the effects of heat that distorts/blurs out the image due to the flames/heat/fumes whatever! yes the focus is on the face...her pretty face and her excellent (IMO) expression! its exactly what i wanted from her. she delivered it with brilliance

smoke is the result of burning something and when the fire is not feed with enough oxygen thus the thick smoke...what do you want to see? indian smoke signals or something hehehe…
    besides, I hate smoke…
Anyways, in this case, nothing is burning...its just the flames that’s conjured up by the flame caster...

btw, you speak of my mentor? i learned this craft from my own years of experience...i developed my own techniques, skills etc....you could say i am my own mentor

hehe, i mean no disrespect to anyone pero sayang lang! too much gear, too expensive and most probably too big and heavy for what you would need/use.

besides i take it you dont have a canon DSLR or SLR camera pa diba? u have ur eyes fixed on a prosumer cam naman sad diba? this lens is the top of the line(although not a 2....weather/dust sealed...superior optics...constant apature...latest gen 3-stop IS...nice zoom range...dont think you should call it a bad lens since you know nothing of it dude...its not even out yet
to answer ur question, this is whats considered a good walk-around lens

Yup thanks for the offer I appreciate it, I might not have a camera yet but I sure know what a good picture is oist! Something more convincing than a pasted look & an effect which is blur & not what it's suppose to be. The model I admire though, what's her number ba ? I want to make nude pictures in case I have a camera na.

Do you have a 24-105L IS lens ? Do you use the latest EOS 5d 12.8 megapixels ba? Can you post us a foto of you with your cool pro-gears ?

Sorry I thought you were a student of Abort-try-fail, I mean he looks like a good teacher to me. You can learn from him as well as I do. We all learn from each other I suppose. I'm planning to enroll if situation permits.

Of course all gorls have hair but I can't see them in the image cuz it blended with the background values. Â*Constructive critisim is okey I guess d va ?

I've seen better pictures using point-n-shoots compared to DSLR so I guess why invest so much in a hobby when everyone's got a budget man pud. At least I get to take pictures also. I've been learning here even without a camera. With Pro gears I think I can make really cool pictures.

Once again thanks for a cold welcome - eh este warm diay ! He he he.. juk ra pre ha ? Cool ka lang Oist !

p.s. all i know is that when someone exhibits with a theme it is very important that you do not go astray or get too engrossed with the models beauty or you end-up out-of-tune w/ the theme thus resulting in a funny picture that conveys a less alert individual in terms of intellect. Also it would be good to accept our short-sightedness for it will help in improving one's visual creativity & output.

huh?! 5D and 24-105 is not yet out...its an up coming model...
clearly u know nothing of these things so why are you making specific comments about it as if you know everything?
also i wonder where did you get the idea that i have these items already when i clearly post the gear i use in the photos i posted...
pls read everything 1st and think before you post...

going into ur questions that you already seem to have an answer to...'does it make our pic better??'
(why bother even asking when u believe what you know is already right and true i wonder?)
    YES AND NO.
if ur a lousy photographer, even if you have the half million peso top of the line 1Ds markII, your photos can still be lousy...
if ur good, even with a cellphone cam you can get pretty good pics.
having the best gear doesnt mean you know how to use it...

more MP means ultimately more detail...usefull in large group shoots that needs to be enlarged in prints.
but its not all about the numbers...

just wondering, where did you get the notion that im abortretryfails student?
yes abortretryfail is a very good photography teacher...i would highly recommend him for those intrested in photography!
and yes this craft is a learning process...

that was no critisim, u just ask if 'she has A hair'?
anyways i intended it to be that way as her hairdo didnt work well with the shot i was aiming for...also this made it more mysterious...

with the limited time and resources we had...i wanted it to appear as if she was in a cave
there was no time for extensive editing (or location shoot) kasi so as much as possible i did all effects in the shot itself. the lighting...green and white and background including the highlights wer all done using hand held cheapo flashlights. all fire wer real and was shot separately then composited later in photoshop. no special editing (color/lighting/etc) was done there except the composite.
we did the shoot sunday to tuesday for 25 exhibit photos then started printing and multimedia presentation on wed til friday in time for saturdays exhibit.

btw, not all gurls have hair...hehe

So why buy an EOS 5d & not a point-n-shoot camera when it's all the same to a certain extent depending on usage. Hobbyist are not into commercial applications so point-n-shoot is the way to go. Fuji S 9000 9 megapixel camera is I think the best in terms of enjoyment & R.O.I. for some people but not for everyone.

dude by far its not all the same aside from the fact that they take digital photos hehehe...
iba talaga ang kuha sa DSLR compared to any point and shoot camera.

a good 6mp dslr has better photoquality than ANY 8mp or 9mp PNS digicams
ive been there...believe me...its more than just the megapixel and what not....
there's a lot more to it that you know...

anyways, both have pros and cons like PNS are cheaper and smaller and lighter etc.
it ultimatly depends on the user dude...goodluck in ur hunt for the s9000!

BTW, u talk of Hobbyist then ROI?! why would a hobbyist think about ROI...when there shouldnt be any...
it shouldnt be a factor! what investment is there to return when you are not making money (commercial application) out of this diba?

also enjoyment is subjective...IT ALL DEPENDS

There are a lot of pros and cons to consider when choosing between a digital compact (point&shoot) and a dSLR. Â*One major consideration is the digital sensor. Â*In theory, say two 5mp sensors from a compact and a dSLR should produce the same digital picture. Â*They’re the same number of pixels so why not? Â*So with that thought in mind we should go with smaller sensors which would mean we can use smaller lenses and in turn have smaller cameras.

But in reality size does matter. Â*And I’m not just talking about the 35mm crop factor in lenses.

The sensor in a dSLR is larger in size so it gives more space between each pixel. Â*When pixels get closer and closer together the sometimes tend to interfere with one another. Â*In the digital picture this comes out as noise. Â*Especially when you want to use higher film speeds (iso). Â*To make film more sensitive to light manufacturers use bigger grains. Â*In digital, to make the sensor more sensitive to light we increase gain. Â*Meaning more power is drawn into each individual pixel. Â*More power creates more interference and more noise. Â*That’s why in many compacts high iso pictures come out very grainy.

The space allotted between each pixel in a dSLR helps lessen that interference producing cleaner, high quality pictures even at high film speeds.

Another factor in the great point&shoot vs. dSLR debate is shutter lag. Â*The time it takes for the camera to actually take the picture after the shutter is pressed. Â*In old digital compacts shutter lag was an annoying several seconds. Â*With new cameras shutter lag is getting quite faster. Â*Though not fast enough in terms of shooting sports, fashion shows, and children. Â*In dSLRs, it’s near instantaneous.

For everyday use I’d love to have the convenience of a compact. Â*But when there’s a need for clean high quality pictures, shut up and give me a dSLR
