Booksale... and that little bookstore beside potato corner is sm![]()
you can check out Cagnaan Booksales, they have branches in SM City Mall, Asiatown IT Park, Banilad Town Centre, and Don ramon Aboitiz Street. They have mostly new books but at low prices. Lots of scientific, technical, computer, medical, architecture, etc etc they recently opened a web site that is listing about 7000 titles.
Just remembered also there is agood branch of Booksale opened in the basement of SM. reasonable prices for Secondhand books.
Amazon shipping can be expensive, but if you log onto Amazon.co.uk you can sometimes see the message "also available secondhand" if you click on that you can see the same title that is offered by other booksellers for direct shipment and usually you can check the cost of shipment before purchase. If you do purchase, the payment goes through Amazon but the book comes direct from the bookseller who might be anywhere in the world (and it tells you where they are) Be sure to order by ISBN (international standard book number) so that you get the exact edition tha you need, especially if it is for school use.
From Philippine Booksellers like National Bookstore and Power Books, you can check the postage costs or courier costs, on their site and it is wise to do so, some booksellers err on the cautious side and make an unintentional "profit" on the carriage costs which is a pain, books are expensive enough. Check out the Cagnaanbooksales.com site, they charge the exact cost of courier and even link their page to the 2go courier site so that you can check the cost yourself. That's what I call transparency!![]()
