ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Government troops based in Jolo fired several rounds of cannons towards the hinterlands of Sulu province where the group of ABS-CBN broadcaster Ces Oreña-Drilon is held captive by Abu Sayyaf bandits.
Troops were also sighted Sunday leaving a military camp in Jolo, the capital town of Sulu province.
In an interview Sunday morning with Brigadier General Juancho Sabban, chief of the Task Force Comet, he said: "no military operation is going on."
Lieutenant General Nelson Allaga, chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), also said the firing of the cannons is not intended for the Abu Sayyaf group.

DOJ is not doing anything to pressure the Abu sayaf commander to surrender.Pila ka ang bahin ani sa ransom kung mahitabo?Even the AFP denied that the cannons the fired were intended for the Abu Sayaf.

ABS-CBN, in its official statement, is firm on NO-RANSOM POLICY.
The gov't is also firm sa no-ransom policy.
The bandits giving a deadline for the ransom is a very clear indication that delikado gyud diay kaayo ning grupoha. Delikado ang sitwasyon nla Ces...

i'm pretty sure there is a contingency already for military action.. pero again there is a need for a military news blackout .... if you have been to mindanao especially in the said areas of interest.. news of any op would be easily distributed to these terrorists.

SUgot kaayo mga taga media ining news blackout kung mo atake man gani mga military. The victim is one of their own so even if the government would not call for a news blackout, the media will just do it on their own. Maru sad mga taga media noh! Pero kung mga sundalo pa ron na involve ug controversy walay news black out. Sabwag tanang balita sa publiko.
