Try brand new Chevy Aveo sedan, you will then think twice of buying brand new vehicle like ours.
After using the car for barely 2 years, the tranny broke, we had it replaced, it was not covered by the warranty.
but making it quick will cost a lot. Let's say you did an engine swap [which is if honda naa sa 100k+ for a really good engine], you will then need to modify the rest of the parts, the suspension, the chassis, everything else coz the original car is not designed to handle the upgrade. So mas mahal pa jud noon. Unless your the richie rich lad nga daghan ikapagawas sa pocket..hehehe......low-end car is a low-end car ...
again.. if you have the pocket for the high-end ones, it's another story....and it depends how you define the "average juan dela cruz"

but I think the stock parts of a 325 bimmer (or an SiR) is of a higher level or class compared to the brand new cars we're talking about here (i'm referring to the brand new cars for a lower budget, e.g., with price comparable to a 2nd hand bmw or an SiR). Plus they (BMW 3 series) do handle way better than the FWDs we have here. And if you would compare how german cars and asian cars endure in the long run, I would go for a german car. In the case of an SiR, their parts and design are made to endure longer and are durable compared to an ordinary car, too. IMHO ^^
I don't think a 600-peso vios or corolla or city would ever be comparable to a used "entry-level" 325 bimmer.
but then again, another side of the story would depend if you're looking at it at a different angle, like for example, you're more into practicality, fuel efficiency, etc... angay lang jud nimo ang neweer cars kay they are more fuel efficient compared to the older ones, generally. Again IMHO hehehe...
Basta ako if naa ra jud ko wawart... I still woudn't change my mind... I'd still go for the bimmer ....saunz.. wala lang jud budget....hahayyyyyyyyy

True kay we are looking at the performance side pero still comparing the 2 ie BMW325 and a Corolla is not comparable tungod bisan same entry level sila pero di sila ka level . Performance wise , layo ra kaayo ang 1.6L i compare sa 2.5 L na makina .
Ikaduha mo last long ang German cars , true kay base sa quality of craftmanship but still would boil down on how one takes care of the car . Asian cars in general ? If i-apil nato Korean cars walay labot gyud but to give you an insight on Japanese cars ... why do we always see COROLLAS and SENTRAS as the choice of TAXI OPERATORS ? Its not because its cheaper n and more economy fuel wise but its how DURABLE it is , tried and tested in the Philippine roads , sobra pa sa tried and tested , TORTURED and ABUSED pa . German cars also would require expensive maintenance to keep it up to par .
