Actually, no matter how the trade made sense, Denver was reluctant to let go of Melo. Mas i-let go pa siguro nila si Iverson for a PG. HOWEVER, naa sad rumors karon for an Carmelo Anthony-Chauncey Billups swap between Detroit and Denver.

Billups might enjoy a move to the Nuggets as he is from the Denver area. George Karl and Co. are seemingly open to the idea of trading Anthony because of his off-court issues and attitude, which are making headlines and drastically losing Melo's trade value.

    CURRY TO COACH PISTONS
Michael Curry has been given a three-year deal to coach the Detroit Pistons, according to ESPN.com.

Curry played for the Pistons in his career and worked as an assistant in recent years.

Pistons' President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars told The Associated Press that Curry, 39, will be introduced at a news conference on Tuesday.

Curry agreed to a three-year deal worth $2.5 million a year, with the team holding the option for a fourth season.

BULLS TO HIRE VINNY DEL NEGRO

The Bulls have offered their head coaching job to Vinny Del Negro, and he will accept it, sources said Monday.

Del Negro's deal still needs to be finalized, but he will likely be announced as the 17th coach in franchise history at a press conference this week.

Del Negro, who has no previous coaching experience, first interviewed for the job on Thursday and quickly shot ahead of Kings' assistant Chuck Person and former Minnesota coach Dwane Casey.

    ARENAS OPTS OUT
Gilbert Arenas lived up to his word and opted out of the final year of his contract, the Wizards said Monday, in a expected move reported by the Associated Press.

Arenas has repeatedly said he would forgo the final year of his six-year, $65M deal so that he could re-sign with the team for an even larger amount.

    ARTEST TO KNICKS: A POSSIBILITY
The Knicks may have a chance to sign Ron Artest to a five-year, $30 million mid-level exception, if he opts out of the last year of his contract with the Sacramento Kings and becomes a free agent on July 1. That contract would pay him $7.4 million. It's even a possibility the Knicks could work a sign-and-trade with Sacramento, if the Kings would agree to it.

"Who wouldn't want to?" Artest said in the tunnel outside the Garden's locker rooms following yesterday's WNBA game between the Liberty and Monarchs. "I'm not going to talk about that stuff till July 1. I don't play for the money, I play for the love."

    Ex-NBA referee: playoff series manipulated

In one of several allegations of corrupt refereeing, Donaghy said he learned in May 2002 that two referees known as “company men” were working a best-of-seven series in which “Team 5” was leading 3-2. In the sixth game, he alleged the referees purposely ignored personal fouls and called “made-up fouls on Team 5 in order to give additional free throw opportunities for Team 6.”

“Team 6” won the game and came back to win the series, the letter said.

Only the Los Angeles Lakers-Sacramento Kings series went to seven games during the 2002 playoffs. And the Lakers went on to win the championship.

At the time, consumer advocate Ralph Nader and the League of Fans, a sports industry watchdog group, sent a letter to Stern complaining about the officiating in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals.

The Lakers, who beat Sacramento 106-102 in that game in Los Angeles, shot 27 free throws in the final quarter and scored 16 of their last 18 points at the line.

Actually, AI is a SG in a PG's body. He's more effective in offense (points). Pero alkanse jud ang Nuggets kung mahitabo ni nga trade kay Melo is the face of the franchise, no matter how many DUI's pa na diha.

    Is Tim Donaghy crazy ?
Grabeh... hehehe. Pero the Lakers-Kings game is way back in 2002, wa na jud mabuhat ana.

BULLS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE NAME VINNY DEL NEGRO COACH

The Chicago Bulls announced today the hiring of Vinny Del Negro as the 17th head coach in franchise history. In accordance with club policy, terms of the contract were not announced.

Del Negro, 41, comes to the Bulls after serving as the Assistant General Manager for the Phoenix Suns. Prior to his promotion to Assistant General Manager, he served as the team’s Director of Player Personnel. Before making the transition to the Suns front office, Del Negro spent three seasons (2003-06) as a color analyst for the Suns broadcast teams. He has also served as an analyst for ESPN and the San Antonio Spurs.

“I am very pleased to name Vinny Del Negro as the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls. I have gone through the process of talking to many people since the season ended which has allowed me to hear the basketball philosophies of different candidates, and I felt very good about many of the interviews,” said Chicago Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations John Paxson.

“Vinny distinguished himself from the group and I feel I have been able to identify a person who has the strong ability to lead, communicate and bring a fresh, energized approach to our young basketball team. Vinny will be able to draw from his experiences in basketball as a player, scout and executive, and I am confident that he will be successful in this new role.”

GRIZZLIES TO MAKE RUN AT MONTA ELLIS?

It's possible that the Memphis Grizzles will make a run at Golden State guard Monta Ellis this summer, according to The Examiner.

He will become a restricted free agent this summer, and while team president Chris Mullin is hopeful that he'll be able to retain the star, he could command quite a bit of money on the market.

The Grizzles have a lot of cash, and they play roughly three hours from Monta's hometown of Jackson, Miss. The team is reportedly adamant about targeting the explosive guard.

It is believed that if Memphis offers Ellis an offer sheet of more than $10 million, that Golden State may be forced to part ways with the guard.

MAGIC AND LAKERS TO COURT GILBERT ARENAS

It is widely believed that Gilbert Arenas will re-sign with the Wizards after officially opting out on Tuesday, but the Lakers and Magic could court the guard, according to The Washington Post.

Arenas grew up in Los Angeles and has always expressed his love for the Lakers. In addition, he's familiar with Orlando GM Otis Smith from their days with Golden State.
