    question # 14.

ANC: What happens if nothing happens to change the management as what you have said?

GARCIA: Maybe we will have to make management more accountable now.

more accountable?it makes sense, meaning your were making meralco less accountable before?what are you up to now?huh!...and how about next time?your going to make meralco and all other firms that could be of used for your STAY on POWER tactics more and more accountable?

for me, it's still politics no matter, or which side your going to look at it.GRAB on to IT!!!

maypa ligsan sa truck, kanang dakung truck...pakaon sa shark.

w/ all due respect sir, i could be wrong but i think u twisted the meaning of his answer on question#14. Winston suggesting that management to be more accountable NOW doesn't mean he was making it less accountable BEFORE. Meralco may be satisfactorily accountable before (to his judgment) but maybe not anymore now.

It is good to point that Meralco's systems loss charge has been increasing over time to reach more than 10% of ur total bill. That's becoming unreasonable and highly unacceptable.

It is also good to point that Meralco's power rates have also increased over time to reach more than 10 pesos per kwh as compared to 6.50 of Veco. other than those, it was discovered lately that Meralco passes on to its customers their EMPLOYEE'S LIFETIME PENSION. now how about that? not to mention the overcharging that up till now they didn't refund.

now, logically, unsa may buhaton ana kung ang hingtungdan magmagahi? di ba dukdukon para mohomok? hehe

besides, he is not the one who is controlling Meralco. it is the Lopezes. who is managing Meralco? Mga tawo man sa mga Lopezes.

what is he up to now? we really can't exactly tell. but the bigger question is, WHAT ARE WE UP TO? di ba lower power rates?

and what about his big challenge to Meralco that if he can't push Meralco to lower its rate to at least 10-20%, he will resign from GSIS, di ba it's a good indication that his intentions are somehow noble?

WHY ONLY NOW? when did the world food crisis take place? di ba just recently? when did the world oil crisis came to it's worse state? di ba just recently? nya mangutana ta, WHAT'S THE CONNECTION? of course, no need to explain na na.

as the saying goes, "Better late than never..."

i don't think Winston said that he will resign from GSIS if he cannot lower the power rates. what he said was, he will resign from the Meralco board. I don't think he is willing to risk his juicy GSIS position.

let's start the countdown and maybe we can see a reduction in our bill, that if Veco follows suit.

i stand corrected big time. u ryt, as a challenge he will resign from the MERALCO BOARD, not as GSIS president.

i also have a new discovery. i heard that currently, the Meralco MANAGERS & OFFICERS OUTNUMBER THE RANK-AND-FILE ! What the heck!?! this is the first time i heard that a company has more managers than their workers! it is simply ridiculous! This defies logic! call me OA but that's what i feel...who wouldn't?

anyways, let's take a look on new updates below. My big question is WHY DOES IT HAVE TO TAKE A WINSTON GARCIA to push for improvements in running Meralco AND NOT THE LOPEZES nga dugay na man unta kau ni cla ning gamot sa Meralco ? think about it...

and again, this is not a GSIS issue but a Meralco issue. they're totally different issues. That's why i cannot and won't buy the idea that "Unahon unta ni Winston ug tarong ang GSIS before even meddling in Meralco".

Garcia looks ahead, now has 'new' Meralco mgmt in mind

    ANC, 6/4/2008

Despite the 5-4 beating he took in Tuesday's election of the board of directors of the Manila Electric Co., government pension fund chief Winston Garcia is not backing down. In fact, he told ANC's "News at 8" morning newscast that he is already in the process of interviewing people to replace the current Meralco management led by chairman and CEO Manuel Lopez.

"We're already in the process of interviewing who will take over the president, CEO and the finance and all of those key management postiions," Garcia, president and general manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), told news anchor Ricky Carandang.

He said that his group's objective in changing Meralco management is to reduce electricity by 10-20 percent. He added that the objective comes with a challenge that he and his team will resign from the board if they fail to achieve this.

"Very easy, we have certain strategies that were thinking about," he said when asked on how they plan on reducing electricity rates.

"Basically, it's more or less reducing the generation and transmission line costs," he said.

hehe... pareho ra ni sa PAL kaniadto. Daghang managers pero maihap ra ang mga tawo who are doing the dirty work. Pagsulod ni Lucio Tan, nibalik ug ka profitable ang PAL -bisan ginagmay pero kanunay.

And I am starting to understand why the Cebuanos would still not appreciate it if say Winston can deliver his promise. Ang daku gud ug pabor ang mga taga Manila man di man taga Cebu. Dahig siguro ang Veco in the long run but then it is Meralco who will be hard hit.

And the irony is that ang mga tawo basta taga-an nimo ug pabor dali ra kaayo malimot bisan demonyo pa ka. We don't know that if Winston is doing this kay gplano diay siya modagan pagka Senador unya pahumot daan siya sa mga taga Manila. Pwede sad. And who knows, it might be the Manila people who would turn out be more proud of Winston than the Cebuanos.

    very well said...

this is a nice quote: "And who knows, it might be the Manila people who would turn out be more proud of Winston than the Cebuanos."

yup, that's why it would be more possible that he would run as Senator. Even some Lakas party people have been throwing the idea about it already...who knows.

But for a Cebu City mayor? i don't think so...why? AFAIK, Winston is an admin ally just like Gwen, Tomas and his BOPK. Though Winston is still a corporate person, we could already assume that if and only if he decides to be a politician, he will be in the admin group like Lakas for example. my point is, Tomas Osmena has already floated this early the names of Mike Rama and Joy Young as BOPK bets for mayor and vice mayor. The possibility of even Winston shifting his loyalty to the United Opposition is next to impossible.

simply put, there will be less complications for Winston if he runs for Senator.

I don't know about the other people's see this events, but for me these are all political maneuvers to stay in power, or get more source of extra income!!!

"to stay in power" (IMHO, to stay in the monopoly), "get more source of extra income" (IMHO, to let it stay that way)...that observation would fit the Lopezes very well...
