Apparently, the show isn't that popular here yet. But if rumors are to be believed (from ABSCBN and GMA forums), the show is going to be licensed here in the Philippines.
The release timeline for the US was already revealed in AnimeCon 2008.
July- subtitled only DVD release (in several flavors)
July 28- English dub to start airing every 11 PM, and twice a week, on Sci-Fi channel.
4Q 2008- English-dub DVD release
Unconfirmed: Blu-ray version on the works (yummy!!)
About the film: there are 2 movies in production, the first one: Gekijō-ban Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann: Guren-hen (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann the Movie: Crimson Chapter) will open in Japan on September 6. The other movie, while confirmed, has no official release details yet. It will be a reimagining of the series, so while I think it's pointless, (you can't compare 15 episodes of the series to a mutilated 2 hour version), I'm still excited.

Not sure if this is available on streaming sites (CR & others), but this is widely available via torrent. (the best way to watch this is to use the HD version..)

anyway! anything even remotely connected to the show is epic. you never know, there may already be some who died in a gurren-lagann watching accident...

ah, has anyone seen the gurren lagann parallel works videos? you should. you must. various artists are re creating gurren lagann, placing characters in alternate worlds.
Video 1 gave me goosebumps.
in it, Nia is imprisoned in castle, and Viral who is a knight seeks help from Kamina and a grown up(!) Simon. Monk Yoko is here, too. And the girl from Viral's dreams is also here (cry). and did I mention Kamina is alive (cry again) and he gets to kick ass together with simon? whoa whoa whoa.
to top it off, they have "rap is a man's soul (raw! raw! fight the powah!)" playing in the background. well, there's no dialogue so it serves as the audio for the entire clip.
I'm totally GAR for simon and kamina here. and Yoko... anyway, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT. I don't have the link, but just key in "gurren lagann parallel works".
